Family Promise 
Our Family Promise Guests will be with us starting

Come join us for a Family Promise Volunteer (re)Orientation! We will meet in the Library at 7:30 on Wednesday, July 23rd. Our agenda will be to review FP Guest guidelines, review Volunteer roles and responsibilities, and introduce some new guidelines which will help both our Guests and Volunteers. We hope you will join us for an informative hour, whether you are a new or seasoned Volunteer (or even if you're just curious about this ministry)! Book Discussion Group:

We will meet Monday, July 28th in the library at 7:30pm to discuss "Orange is the New Black." Save the date, Monday September 22 for "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tart. Summer choir has begun. The group gathers at 9:15 each Sunday morning in the Choir Room throughout the summer months to prepare and lead our worship for that day. Join us!

this Saturday, July 19th, 5:30pm at Anchorage Beach,
(cross the Rumson-Seabright bridge, turn left; beach is immediately on the right). Once on the beach, look for the Episcopal flag! Since parking may be limited, consider parking at St. George's and walking to the beach. In event of "iffy" weather call the church office: 732 842-0596, hit 2# and listen to the message.  Bring a towel/chair and a friend!

The Canterbury Art Show
 

St. George's Young Artists in the Canterbury Art Show

Once again, the children of St. George's had fun while creating mini-masterpieces to be on sale for $10 each at the Canterbury Art Show, Labor Day Weekend, August 29, 30, 31. This has become a very popular youth activity. Packets of 10 different cards will also be available for $20.   Earmarked sales proceeds will go to Amanda's Easel, through 180 Turning Lives Around, an art therapy program for victims of domestic abuse.

St.George's 2014 Raffle! How would you like to win a $5,000 or a $3,000 vacation voucher or an Apple gift certificate valued at $600? And help the parish meet its commitment to our Outreach programs. If you haven't already done so, won't you please consider selling or buying your own tickets?This is one of only three fundraising events that we do each year (Canterbury Fair and the Art Show being the other two) and we can use all the help we can get to lend a hand to those less fortunate in our community.The Raffle drawing will take place on Friday, August 29 at 7:45pm at the Art Show reception and winners need not be present. If you've sold and/or bought 5 raffle tickets, you will receive one free attendance (a $40 value) to this catered reception on August 29. If you cannot sell all 5 tickets, please consider at least selling or buying 2 of them. We are most grateful for your efforts, large and small.

75th Anniversary of

Episcopal Relief & Development!

 

MDG Task Force Annual Workshop

Joy Shigaki, the Director of the Celebration for Episcopal Relief & Development will be our keynote speaker and will help facilitate the workshop. Topics to be covered include:

  • History of Episcopal Relief & Development, Current Priorities and Practices, and Overview of Celebration Plans.
  • Public Narratives as a tool to engage congregations.
  • Mapping congregational assets as a guide for planning and action.

When:  Saturday, July 19th from 10 am to 3 pm

Where:  St. Matthew's Church, Pennington

Suggested Contribution: $20

 

All churches in the Diocese are encouraged to send their MDG parish representatives, deacon, clergy, outreach committee member, warden or someone who will guide this celebration in your congregation.
