Living Letters: Encountering Philippians

May 18th, 8:00 and 10:00am

Experience Paul in a new way! Living Letters is a whole new approach to experiencing the biblical story. Usually we remain separate from the text when we read it, but Living Letters recreates the historic circumstances surrounding Paul's writing of the letter and invites the audience to leave their present-day culture behind and become members of the first-century church. The result is a dynamic, exciting, transformative encounter with Scripture. You won't want to miss the rare opportunity to see a Broadway performer bring Paul's letters to life.

Sunday, May 18th, both 8:00am and 10:00am services.

Canterbury Fair

Calling all salesmen, sweethearts and snake charmers!  The Silent Auction needs a few people to "put a face" on our (already sent out!) donation requests of local businesses.  All names, numbers and data will be provided.  This is a perfect opportunity for those of you who would like to help out, but need to do so on your own schedule.  Please let Christianna or Gwendolyn know if you can spare an hour or two.Canterbury Fair

SAVE THE DATE!!

Many hands make light work! Canterbury Fair Volunteer shift sign up sheet will be in Ralph Hall beginning this Sunday.  Sign up early to grab your favorite spot!

"The Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"  We humbly ask that our parishioners consider making donations to the Silent Auction.  In the past, so many wonderful items have been given (such as outdoor furniture, wine, sporting event & concert tickets, gift certificates, cupcakes and crafts, just to mention a few!) and they have been a blessing to the auction.  Please contact Christianna or Gwendolyn if you can provide a gift.  Thank you!

Outreach: To Seek, Share, Serve

Following is a list of the grants approved at the April meeting of the Outreach Committee.  For each grant, a committee member "researcher" visits the agency, obtains a copy of the grant request, the latest financials for the agency and comparative bids from vendors.  After discussing the grant requests, in great detail, the committee votes on whether to award the grant or not.

Canterbury Art Show... a Tapestry of the Arts

Friday, August 29 - Sunday August 31, 2014

Labor Day Weekend

The Call to Artists has gone out!!!

Nearly 400 artists have been invited to visit the event's website and fill out the Artist Participation Form.

During the summer the artists will submit their artwork for any or all of the three categories they have decided to enter:

Juried -a panel of jurors review the submissions and select what they judge to be the best pieces. Winners in multiple categories are determined from the selected pieces.

Non-Juried Treasures -without jurors; and, therefore open for all artists who would like to display and sell their framed original artwork.

Portfolio Pieces -unframed, matted pieces, ready for framing.

By the May 12 deadline, we will have a list of all participating artists. If, by chance, you have an artist friend or acquaintance, do not delay in passing along the art show information.

All proceeds from the art show directly benefit St. George's and its Outreach Grants to over 30 local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including Lunch Break, Family Promise, HABcore, 180 Turning Lives Around and more.
