Canterbury Fair
Another opportunity has presented itself for the right people. We are looking for two people to lead the Canterbury Fair Silent Auction.

Jr. High Youth Group:Bowling!
On Sunday March 30th, we will meet at Brunswick Lanes on Rte 36 in Hazlet at 4pm.  $10 per person.  Shoes, pizza and soda included.  Please RSVP to Brenda.  All 6th, 7th and 8th graders are welcome to attend.

Senior High Youth Group
We will meet tonight, Wednesday March 12th at 6pm in Ralph Hall.  Join us for pizza and watching Frozen!  All 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are welcome!

St George's is searching for a special someone to coordinate and keep current the content of our new website. We anticipate that this job (after the initial updating) will take around 2 hours/week. Might you be interested? If so, please contact Ophelia or Jeff.
Save the Date! 

Save the date for our third annual Canterbury Art Show...a Tapestry of the Arts. Labor Day Weekend -  August 29, 30, 31!. 
 
St. George's by the River, with over a century of history, is a spectacular setting for the fabulous artwork we will be hanging within its walls. The Canterbury Art Show...a Tapestry of the Arts, is a premier local exhibition and sale of artwork.  
 
Proceeds from the Canterbury Art Show will directly benefit St.George's-by-the-River and its outreach programs. 

(note: Jim and Kathleen' Contemplative Prayer group does NOT meet this Sunday).
The Story
We would like to invite everyone to join us in the reading of The Story. Or if you have been following along at home we invite you to join us on Friday mornings at 9:00am or Sunday's after the 10:00 service for spirited discussion of the materials. 
We are currently reading chapter 24. I can think of no better Lenten discipline than to spend time reading and contemplating Scripture and God's story.

Lenten Food Drive

For Lunch Break in Red Bank

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  We are off to a great start collecting food. Lunch Break is so appreciative of our efforts. 

 

Lunch Break Food Pantry Wish List (Non-Perishable): canned or dry beans; canned fruits, vegetable, soups, stews, chili, tuna fish, chicken; cereals; peanut butter and jelly; pasta and sauces; macaroni and cheese, mashed potato and rice mixes; coffee, tea, juices; mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, vegetable cooking oil; salad dressings; salt, pepper; apple sauce, pudding, snacks; sugar, flour. 

 

There are receptacles in Ralph Hall and the Narthex for the food deposits and cloth bags are available for you to keep in your car as a reminder.

Supper and a Movie!

A Place at the Table is an eye opening, thought provoking movie!  In collaboration with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bank (our post Sandy hosts) we will be screening this inspiring exposé of  "food insufficiency" that is prevalent right here!    We invite an open discussion following the movie.     

 Various homemade soups will be provided for dinner following the movie.  Please let Debbie Duffy know if you plan to attend, and if you can bring any of the following: salad, bread, beverage, dessert.

Mike and Kathryn Plosica are looking for a few parishioners (adults only) to help this Saturday, March 22 to work with Dave Hinton and

the Tower Hill crew to do some painting and outside yard clean up of Elmer's house in Union Beach.

A Note about the Sunday Bulletins during Lent: 
 
You will notice that we have returned to our former format on the Sunday bulletin. In other words we have returned to a bulletin format in which not everything is included, rather we include page numbers for hymns and for the Book of Common Prayer as needed. Please let us know which bulletin format you prefer so we know how to proceed when Lent is over. Thanks!
