The LA Galaxy kicked off their 20 For Twenty campaign by joining Habitat LA for a build day.
This community initiative is honoring the Galaxy's 20th season with 20 service projects in LA. Staff members, players Gyasi Zardes and Rafael Garcia, as well as the president of the team, Chris Klein, came out to help build seven homes in Lynwood. Even the Galaxy Star Squad got their hands dirty while lending a helping hand. The team ended the day covered in paint, dust, drywall, and smiles.

MEET ABC7 COOL KID- ALBERTH MIMILA
| |

ABC7 recently named Alberth Mimila, who is the son of one of our Long Beach partner homeowners, as their "Cool Kid" of the week.
Ever since the passing of his mother, Alberth adopted the saying, "One person can make a difference," and he is definitely doing his part to live up to these great words.
Alberth helped his father, Ignacio Mimila, build thier Habitat LA home and complete 500 hours of sweat equity. He also volunteers with the Action Sports Kids Foundation, where he shares his love of skateboarding with fellow youth in the Long Beach area.

Last Thursday, Habitat LA invited congregations from Long Beach to join in on a prayer walk in the city's Washington neighborhood. The afternoon began at 14th St. and Pine Ave. in prayer. Several attendees shared from their hearts reasons why, as Christians, they serve with Habitat LA.
The first stop was a home that Delta Air Lines sponsored and helped to rehabilitate. Habitat LA shared information on the importance of the rehab and home repair programs. The final destination was a one acre plot of land off of Locust and 14th where we are looking to build up to 50 town homes, which will be Habitat LA's biggest development to date.
All of the stops on the prayer walk gave the pastors, mission leaders, and church service organizers a firsthand look at Habitat LA's work. The walk ended with a final prayer and an invitation to the congregations to join Habitat LA for a build day at the end of April. For more information contact Shauna Mason, Habitat LA's Faith Relations Coordinator.
