Greetings!
This year was an exciting year for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA), full of extraordinary growth. We served 108 families, the most we have ever served in a year! We have made an impact not only in the lives of those 108 families for years to come but we have also made a significant investment to revitalize their neighborhoods. In the last year, we have made a direct economic investment of $25 million into our communities, translating to an economic impact of $175 million.
By making our homes affordable, our partner homeowners are able to realize a savings value of $7,620 per year that they can use towards savings, investment, purchases of consumer goods, including a better diet for their children and higher education. All of these economic activities have a direct benefit to our whole community.
As we come to the end of the year, I ask you to think about HFH GLA regarding your year-end giving. As a reminder, your contribution to us is tax deductible. On average, the actual cost of a $100 donation is only $67 after tax deductions. You can make a donation via our web site by clicking here or by sending a check to our offices.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY HOLIDAY PROGRAM
|
 It is going to be a happy holiday for 40 HFH GLA partner families who benefited from our 2013 Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program! Donors, HFH GLA board members and staff, personally presented 35 new homebuyers and five veteran/home repair families with holiday necessities such as grocery and gas gift cards, toys and other items at a reception at Christian Life Church in Long Beach on Saturday, December 7th.
The annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program began in 2011 as a way to provide some much needed support for HFH GLA partner homeowners during the holiday season. This year, more than $11,000 was raised. Funds were raised online, in the ReStores and through staff and board member donations. Gift-in-kind donations were also received from Dermalogica, NYX Cosmetics, and Mattel, and Wells Fargo made a generous donation of $2,500, thanks to the efforts of HFH GLA Board Member Linda Russell. MONICA POTTER'S HOLIDAY GIFT BASKET

Monica Potter (Parenthood) is a woman of all trades! She is a talented actress who is just as comfortable swinging a hammer on our build sites as she is in her kitchen and garden making artisanal holiday goods. This holiday season she combined her passion for all and crafted a holiday gift basket that she sold on eBay and then generously donated the proceeds to us so that we can continue doing the work that she is so passionate about. This is a great example of one of the many creative ways that you can help HFH GLA build hope, lives and communities. DONOR HOLIDAY RECEPTION

 Many HFH GLA board members, donors and sponsors joined us at San Antonio Winery on Wednesday, December 11 for our annual Donor Holiday Reception. This was the second year in a row that the reception was held at the historic winery in Los Angeles and we were fortunate that the winery donated 15% of every purchase made by attendees back to us. In addition to mingling with fellow HFH GLA supporters, attendees also had the opportunity to bid on auction items donated by the LA Kings, NYX Cosmetics, Microsoft, LA Dodgers, Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Viceroy Santa Monica Hotel and Tommy Hilfiger. Thank you to Union Pacific Railroad for helping to sponsor this great event and to all of our generous donors for your support throughout the year! |
