Bring the whole gang! Join Bottle and Bottega at their studio for a family painting event.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

You will be supplied with everything needed to create your own masterpiece on a 10x10 take-home stretch canvas - artist instruction, all painting supplies & apron.  Follow our instructor as they replicate this image.  You and your family can paint an entire owl family to create a diptych, triptych, etc. or choose to paint something else. The choice is always yours!   
Feel free to bring a beverage and snack to enjoy during the event.

In this workshop we will acknowledge and utilize the strength of our primary patterns and begin to cultivate the weak counterpart patterns. The active joining of counter-opposing patterns, expressed equivalently, moves us from imbalance to balance -- from fragmentation to wholeness.

Cultivating a Compassionate Heart: A meditation for Daily Living Series with Rhoda Miriam

Peace in the world begins with peace in ourselves. This 4-week experiential series focuses on mindful practices such as breath and body awareness, co-meditation and mindful listening, metta (loving-kindness) meditation, and guided yoga nidra (conscious relaxation) meditation. Through periods of silence and discussion, students will explore how these techniques can serve to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, compassionate action towards ourselves and others, and a positive and peaceful existence.

Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate

Each year, the Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate brings together thousands of people from all over Chicagoland to run and walk in unity against racial hatred and violence.

 

All information related to the Race, including Race Day details, packet-pick-up, course maps, etc., can be found here or at www.ywca.org/RAH2014.

 

Proceeds from the Race Against Hate are used to further the mission of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore.

 

 

Participate in Bike to Work Week
June 13 - 20

Evanston community members are encouraged to trade their gas pedals for bike pedals during Chicagoland's Bike to Work Week June 13-20.

 

The Active Transportation Alliance is sponsoring a free Bike Commuter Challenge to encourage commuters to take advantage of this healthy, non-polluting transportation option by biking all or part of the way to work at least once during the week. Bikers can join their employer's team or start a team at bikecommuterchallenge.org.

 

Fountain Square Pit Stop  

Tuesday, June 17th, 7 - 9am 

Stop by for a quick morning snack and get a free bike tune-up by Wheel and Sprocket at the Bike Pit Stop at Fountain Square in downtown Evanston,

 

The first 35 bikers in attendance will receive a free water bottle in celebration of 100 years of clean water in Evanston! Rotary International will be handing out reflective bike stickers to the first 50 bikers.

 

Bike and Brew

Evanston pub and eatery, Bat 17, 1709 Benson Ave., will host a "Bike and Brew" event from, featuring discounts on drinks and appetizers for bikers, as well as the opportunity to become a member of the Active Transportation Alliance.

The Downtown Evanston Farmer's Market is back!
May 10th - November 8th

In 2014, the Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market will celebrate its 39th year. The market will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from May 10 through November 8. The market has a festive atmosphere and is a real crowd-pleaser! As many as 51 vendors sell a wide variety of goods each week, including fruits, vegetables, meat, flowers, cheese, eggs and bakery items. LINK cards are accepted and reusable bags are sold on site. Please note that dogs are not allowed at the market (with an exception for service animals). New vendors interested in applying to sell their goods at the market should contact Myra Gorman for an application, at 847-448-8045, after Feb. 19.

35th Annual Fountain Square Arts Festival  

Now celebrating its 35th year, Fountain Square Art Festival is the largest and oldest fine arts fair on Chicago's majestic North Shore. Featuring the eclectic works of more than 150 juried artists, this sprawling art showcase epitomizes words like "cosmopolitan" and "sophistication."  It also features a popular children's art tent with fun activities overseen by the acclaimed Evanston Art Center, food, and a soothing jazz-centric music lineup.


Besides the main attraction of world-class art, the Fountain Square Arts Festival offers a vast array of entertainment. A main music stage features continuous live jazz. In addition, the festival boasts a vast assortment of the area's best food and children's art tent offering art lessons and projects for kids!

Bottle & Bottega Evanston, a wine & art party business that creates daily public, private, and corporate events, is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Studio Manager role for its location at 1016 Davis St, Evanston.  

 

General responsibilities include maintaining a trained studio team, ensuring all operational procedures are completed to company standards, and achieving established sales goals by leading the studio effectively. One to two years management experience in the retail or service industry, artistic ability (specifically in painting), and ability to meet travel requirements for off-site events (owning a car) a MUST. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends at a minimum of 25-30 hours a week to meet the demands of the business and comply with studio scheduling policies also a MUST. Prerequisites include excellent written and verbal communication, strong guest service, organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to multi task and demonstrate composure under pressure and in a fast paced environment. Additional prerequisites include a proven knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications with intermediate level skills in Excel and Word, familiarity with intranet/Internet navigation as well as key social media applications.
