Register for the 3rd Annual Evanston Flying Turkey 5k this Thanksgiving! This awesome, family event is a great way to kick off your Thanksgiving weekend and get in some great exercise before your turkey dinner.
We sold out the last two years, so don't miss your chance to register! The first 2,000 people to sign up will receive an official Evanston Flying Turkey 5k Heavyweight Longsleeve shirt.
Be sure to bring a canned food item to the race to drop in the donation bin.
Grand Chanukah Menorah Lighting
December 4, 5:30pm
The entire community is invited to come together from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4 (the last night of Chanukah) for the Grand Chanukah Menorah Lighting in Fountain Square.
Mayor Elizabeth B. Tisdahl will offer greetings and help in the lighting of the Menorah. The ceremony will celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and freedom of conscience over oppression. Musical entertainment will be provided and refreshments will be served. Fountain Square is located on Davis St. between Orrington and Sherman Avenues. Admission is free. For more information, please call 847-866-2914.

International Family Film Festival at McGaw YMCA

Celebrate the holidays with McGaw YMCA by bringing your friends and family to learn about cultures from all over the world. Join them for holiday entertainment, lunch (provided by the Kiwanis Club), gingerbread houses, food, crafts and visits with Santa. Visit www.mcgawymca.org for a full list of activities.
This event is free and open to the community. Give back this holiday season by bringing a microwaveable canned food and/or non-perishable item to the YMCA to support John's Cupboard.

Buttons for kids 9 - 17 years old are $10 no matter when they are purchased and children 8 and under are free when accompanied by an individual wearing a button. Tickets can be purchased here and more information can be found on Facebook.
Spaces Available for Artist Vendors at Holiday Bazaar

This year's Holiday Bazaar will be held at ETHS in conjuction with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Program on Sun., Dec. 8. The Holiday Bazaar will be open for shopping before, during and after the program. The Symphony projects to sell over 1,000 tickets to their program. Interested artists should contact Myra Gorman at 847-448-8045 or mgorman@cityofevanston.org. The artist vendor fee is $80 (includes one 8- ft. table and 2 chairs). Vendors will be accepted until Dec. 4.
