All Hallows Eve Party at The Celtic Knot

October 31, 9pm

Join The Celtic Knot for a All Hallows Eve party ~ KNOT OF THE LIVING DEAD! Thursday, October 31, 9:00 pm, featuring ONE OF THE GIRLS. The true origins of Halloween lie with the ancient Celtic tribes who lived in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany. For the Celts, November 1 marked the beginning of a new year and the coming of winter. The night before the new year, they celebrated the festival of Samhain, Lord of the Dead. During this festival, Celts believed the souls of the dead - including ghosts, goblins and witches - returned to mingle with the living. In order to scare away the evil spirits, people would wear masks and light bonfires. What better place to celebrate this Celtic holiday than at The Celtic Knot Public House? Costumes, music, dancing... FUN!!

City Seeks Input on New Parking Meters and Pay Stationsmeter

The City of Evanston is updating on-street parking equipment to become more environmentally and user friendly. The new equipment choices are solar/battery powered single space parking meters and pay stations that accept both coin and credit cards, with the future alternative option of payment with the use of a cell phone.

In order to ensure that residents, businesses and visitors have input on the type of device they prefer, 50 single-space meters and two upgraded pay-and-display stations have been placed in various locations for examination and testing. For your convenience, a meter location map is provided.

Patrons are invited to take a brief survey regarding the meter technology via text message at the telephone number posted at each location (standard text message rates may apply.) Alternatively, users may take the survey by phone at 3-1-1 or online at www.cityofevanston.org/parkingsurvey. The surveys will be open until November 5th.

Input from the general public, and area businesses regarding which technology is preferred will help determine the type of equipment that will be implemented at most locations citywide.

The timeline for total replacement of equipment is the end of March 2014.
