City to test single traffic Lane on Davis - May 13
As part of a test phase leading up to the Davis Street Streetscape project scheduled to take place later this summer, the City of Evanston will put up temporary test pavement markings for a bike path at the curb on the north side of the 500 block of Davis St., moving the car parking lane away from the curb on that side and temporarily reducing traffic from two lanes to one lane. The test will start May 13 and run for about two weeks. This test may offer a solution to a previous proposal which would have eliminated diagonal parking on the south side of the street to make room for a protected bike lane.
