A study published in the journal Oncogene by the research group of Ernst Lengyel, M.D., Ph.D., a previous OCRF grantee and current Scientific Advisory Committee member, has found that the tumor microenvironment can regulate tumor suppressor microRNA in ovarian cancer cells. Scientists hope that targeting the miR-193b molecule could prove effective in the treatment of ovarian cancer metastasis. Read more.

According to research published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy is associated with a long-term survival advantage in ovarian cancer, with the advantage of IP chemotherapy over intravenous chemotherapy extending beyond ten years. Read more.

A study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention looks at ovarian cancer risk in the general population, finding that there are women in the general U.S. population who have a much higher than average lifetime risk of ovarian cancer. Read more.

Volunteer at Super Saturday LA on May 16th
OCRF is now accepting volunteer applications for Super Saturday LA. Held at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, and hosted by Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman, and Molly Sims and Scott Stuber, OCRF's Super Saturday LA is a celebrity-filled, day-long fundraiser with discounted designer shopping and fun for the whole family. On January 25th, Lanita Morrison ran the Lifetime Miami Half Marathon in memory of her mother, Laura Morrison, who passed away from side effects related to her ovarian cancer treatment in March 2013. After raising $6,505 in donations from family and friends, Lanita has decided to up her goal to $10,000 for OCRF.
