OCRF Now Accepting Letters of Intent for Grant Applications
OCRF is now accepting Letters of Intent (LOIs) for its three scientific research grant programs. The deadline for submitting an LOI for the Program Project Development Grant, Liz Tilberis Early Career Award, or Ann Schreiber Mentored Investigator Award is 5:00 p.m. EDT, on May 6th. Chemotherapy: What to Expect

On Monday, April 14th, at 6:00 p.m. EDT, OCRF will host the webinar "Chemotherapy: What to Expect." Presented by Kimberly A. Burns, RNC, MSN, WHNP-BC, of MD Anderson Cancer Center, the webinar will focus on how to manage common side effects such as fatigue, changes in appetite, bowel changes, neuropathy, weight changes and insomnia. Register here to join and ask real-time questions. Physical Activity Associated with Lower Risk of Ovarian Cancer Mortality
A team of researchers have found that vigorous physical activity prior to ovarian cancer diagnosis was associated with a lower risk of ovarian cancer mortality.  The findings were published in 
Gynecologic Oncology. Read more.  
OCRF Research Identifies Fusion Gene Common in Ovarian Cancer
A group of OCRF-funded researchers at Baylor College of Medicine have found a "fusion gene" that is present in 20% of high grade serous ovarian cancer patients. The finding, which was published in PLOS Genetics, was supported in part by OCRF grants to Martin Matzuk, M.D., Ph.D., Shannon Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D., and Laising Yen, Ph.D. Read more.

Tickets are now available for a night of comedy and cocktails for the cause at the 13th Annual Stand Up for Madeline and OCRF on Monday, May 12th, at Carolines on Broadway in New York City. Join us for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a live auction, and stand-up performances from some of the best talent in the industry, featuring old friends and new, including (pictured above from left to right) Michelle Buteau, Jim Gaffigan, Robert Klein, Matteo Lane, and Joe Machi. And thanks to our generous partner, Alex and Ani's Charity by Design, each guest will receive a complimentary Laugh Out Loud bangle! Last year's event raised nearly $130,000 to support OCRF's research programs in Madeline Kahn's memory. In the Teal Spotlight
If you missed the previous online registration deadline for this first-time "Power of a Woman" 5K Race taking place on April 12th, now is your chance to sign up. Paired with the only all-women's triathlon on Long Island, the event is open to women ages 14 and up, making it a perfect beginner race, or warmup event for veteran 5K runners. To register for the race by the deadline of April 9th, please click here

 

Aspiring "Power of a Woman" triathletes can also still register for the triathlon with cash payment by visiting the designated packet pickup locations on April 10th and 11th.
