A Day in the Life -Interview - Photo

Greetings!

Do you dance?  In this 4th-of-July edition of the Communique' you'll find:

  • "Top 10 Things Your Can Learn From Dance About Working Together Better!"

  • Body Language...not just for dance!

  • A few ideas--and links--for some summer fun...including the Michael Jackson ONE show I attended last week while speaking in Las Vegas.
When I'm not speaking, one of my favorite activities is dancing of all types...salsa, line dance and at the gym it's Zumba and step aerobics.

Here's a couple ACTION ITEMS

WHAT FUN THINGS DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER?  (I'd love to include YOUR ideas in the Suggestions for Summer Fun section in next month's Communique')

Oh...did I mention the 4th of July Word Scramble contest? And that there are prizes?

ENJOY!

Top 10 Things You Can Learn

from dance about

working together better!

  1.      A lead is an indication of direction...a suggestion, not a demand.

  2.     Be sensitive to your partner.  Never blame or ridicule.

  3.        Teamwork wins.  You are judged by how good you make your partner look.

  4.        A good partnership requires patience, understanding and an awareness of partner needs.

  5.       Life is great when you're both dancing  to the same beat.

  6.      Every dance is like a three-minute relationship.  If someone is critical during the dance they probably will be the same when the music stops.

  7.      A successful partnership maintains the uniqueness of each individual without disrupting the connection of the partnership.

  8.      Praise works wonders.  Applaud little accomplishments and bigger ones will follow.

  9.        When learning something new, don't hurt anybody.

  10.    Focus on what is right, not who is right.

WHAT DO YOU SAY?

Body language is not just something you use when dancing.  It's a part of everyday communication.

What is your body really saying?

Pointing Finger = Aggressive
Sighing= Bored, Impatient
Rolled Eyes= "Dumb Idea!"
Stroking Chin= Contemplating
*Folded Arms = Closed Mind

*Even if you're just folding your arms
because you're cold, it may be interpreted negatively.

"In a world filled with hate, we must still
dare to hope.

In a world filled with anger, we must still
dare to comfort.

In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream.

And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe."
