What Do You Say Communique'
 March 2015 - Four "F Words"
                                                                               Monthly eNewsletter

March Greetings!

In the middle of a busy month of my own speaking dates and travel, I took some time to attend San Diego Women's Week...as a participant!

In this edition of the Communique' I share some of the wise words of wisdom--and links to related resources--from the Women's Week speakers. (Advice will benefit women AND men too!)

I especially enjoyed the wit and humor of Kim Coles--Comedian and Actress best known for her role as "Synclaire" in the 1990's TV show Living Single--who shared that her favorite four "F Words" are FAMILY, FAITH, FRIENDS and FUN!

I really resonated with the FUN word and the importance of including some fun with our work. Check out some of my favorite fun photos from recent speaking engagements in this month's Communique'!

I look forward to an opportunity to speak at your upcoming conference or staff development event!

"Can't be positive all the time but can be powerful by being your authentic self."

GRETCHEN RUBIN
Author of Happiness Project (one of my favorite books!) and new book Better Than Before:  Mastering the Habits of Everyday Lives

"40% of what we do everyday is governed by habits; you're happier if your habits work for you."

"36% of habits are changed in conjunction with transition--a move, a new relationship--so use that to your advantage.  Temporary becomes permanent."

MALLIKA CHOPRA
Daughter of Deepak Chopra and author of book coming out in April 2015:  Living with Intent: My Somewhat Messy Journey to Purpose, Peace and Joy

INTENT:

I - Incubate - Who am I?
N - Notice - What's my internal dialogue?
T - Trust
E - Express your intent
N - Nurture yourself (get rid of guilt!)
T - Take Action

Three Gamesmanship Strategies
  1. Conditioning - Practice and prepare for position you want (ex - Must learn finance if you want to be in the "C-Suite).

  2. Composure - How you carry yourself and communicate is important (ex - Be accessible, be positive).

  3. Play Offense - Be "artfully assertive", ASK...and focus on the good of the company.

Monthly Motivational Quote

DON'T QUIT

"When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh..."
