WHAT DO YOU SAY?
"The Look"
"This is the look that my father used to give us when we would become unruly at the dinner table. You know the one - a sideways glance with eyebrow lifted and an icy stare. The look hinted at -- even warned of -- punishments that would surely await us if we didn't "straighten up". The "look" can also be used to imply "that comment is not even worth my replying." Or, to use a popular expression "don't even go there!"
This is an exerpt from Chapter 6: Family Dearest of my book "If You Can't Say Something Nice, What DO You Say?"
Although I spend a lot of time in my keynotes and workshops talking about what to say, I think that sometimes it's best NOT to say anything at all!
