RELAY FOR LIFE

The Newport News Family YMCA is partnering up with Relay for Life on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Todd Stadium.                                  American Cancer Society

  

The Y is providing activities for children of all ages.  We're offering  bounce houses, ongoing games like: ring toss, fishing, basketball, a kids' wash, and more.  Look for additional scheduled activities such as: Kids Zumba, Hoola-Hoop contest, Limbo, Cha- Cha Slide and more.

 

So stop by the Y's children's activity area and have some fun! 

If you would like to volunteer to help out, contact the Y at  245-0047 and talk with Sharon Nichols.

 

Anyone can participate in Relay For Life. Friends, families, neighbors, classmates, sports teams, etc., can form their own teams. No matter who you are, there's a place for you at Relay. The only requirement to participate in Relay For Life is the $10 registration/commitment fee (per person) that is due upon registration. Find out more information at the

SPRING BREAK CAMP

Join the fun at the Y during Spring Break.  School-Age children participate in swimming, arts and crafts, games and more!  This is a great way to meet new friends and have fun in a safe, caring environment.  Email Angela.Sproul@peninsulaymca.org, Director of Child Care Services.

HEALTHY KIDS DAY

Put more play in your day with the entire family.  The YMCA's Healthy Kids Day is the  Y's national initiative toHealthy Kids Day 
improve the health and well-being of families and to help them get a jump on creating a healthier summer for their kids.

 
YMCA Healthy Kids Day brings families and communities together to celebrate healthy living with a free and empowering day of fun activities that encourage kids and grown-ups to eat healthier ... and to get physical activity through play.

 

YMCA Members, friends, neighbors and the community at large are invited to join us for this no-cost event.

OUR QUEST TO A SUMMER ADVENTURE

Summer Day Camp   

 

Fun! It's in our nature!  Kids have the best summer at YMCA Summer Camp.  Days are filled with swimming, arts and crafts, new games, nature exploration, sports, songs, field trips and much more.  The program stresses socialization, self-confidence and self-awareness, and is presented around the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

VIRGINIA SENIOR GAMES

Newport News May 15-18 2013  

 

The City of Newport News will host the Virginia Senior Games and its slate of approximately 20 sporting events.  The 2013 Games are scheduled for May 15-18.

 

This will be the first time that the Games - for senior athletes ages 50 and over - will be hosted by the city. They had been held in the Richmond area for the past four years and before that in Virginia Beach.

 

The Newport News Family YMCA is supporting the Senior Games offering trainings and classes specific to high interest events.
