Get Involved

We love for our students to be involved at Cooper!   Research indicates students that are involved in school activities outside of the classroom feel more connected and have a higher success rate.  We have compiled a one page listing of all of our current/active clubs to help you encourage your student to get involved @ Cooper!

Why Take the PSAT?

We encourage all students in the 9th,10th, and 11th grade to take the PSAT test. This optional two-hour standardized assessment is how the National Merit Scholarship nominees are selected.

By taking this important assessment in your 9th and 10th grade years, it is a great practice for when it really counts as an 11th grader.  Have your child stop by the School Counseling office today to reserve their spot!

Cost:  $20

Registration Deadline:  Wed., Oct. 5th

Test Date: Wednesday, Oct. 19th

Transcripts

Students at all Kentucky public high schools may request their transcripts online and have them sent directly to any of the state's 44 public or private colleges and universities and other participating schools worldwide.

Through eTranscript, Kentucky students may request their transcripts 24 hours a day, seven days a week online at www.parchment.com

With the click of a mouse, students can securely send the transcript directly to any participating postsecondary school at no cost through July of the year they graduate from high school. In the past, high school counselors have had to physically handle transcript requests - sometimes at a cost to the student.

Kentucky's eTranscript standard format also expedites the processing of thousands of transcripts each year at colleges and universities and speeds acceptance notification.

An additional resource regarding planning and preparing for higher education can be found at: www.gotocollege.ky.gov.

ACT Registration

Test Date: October 22

(Late registration fees will apply Sept. 17-30th)

October is a great time for students to take the ACT.  In fact, we encourage juniors that haven't taken the ACT yet, to do so by December 2016 in order to become more familiar with this test and to identify the areas they need to further improve in.  Cooper is a national test site so students can be in a familiar environment.

For seniors, you still have time to take the ACT again in October and still receive scores in time for college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships.

Did you know. . .
  • Questions on the ACT are based on what students have learned in their coursework.
  • The ACT is accepted by all US colleges and universities.
  • Not all colleges and universities require a writing test for admission-the ACT Writing Test is optional, saving students time and money.
  • The ACT test score is based on the number of correct answers, with no points deducted for guessing.
  • Your students will receive personalized career information based on their strengths, weaknesses, and interests.

ACT offers no-cost and low-cost test prep options at:  www.actstudent.org/testprep
