Middle schoolers head to Louisville for mission trip
At the 10 am service on Sunday, we will commission our middle school students and their chaperones as they set off that afternoon for their mission trip to Louisville, KY, through July 5. Our teen mission workers include Ainsley Hagan, Reed Boeckler, Max Stallings and Megan MacLean. Chaperoning the group is Lisa MacLean and Ted Hagan. We pray for their safe travel and open hearts as they share this experience of discipleship and service to others. The gathering, coordinated by Youthworks will bring together around 50 middle and high school youth to serve the community and explore their faith. They will partner with New Directions Housing Corporation to complete housing repairs in the homes of the elderly and disabled; St. Joseph's Children's Home, assisting in the classroom at their child development center; and the Kling Center, assisting with the elderly with their daily activities.
LAST MINUTE NEED: While on the mission trip, our group will sleep on the floor of a local church. If anyone has twin size blow-up mattresses or foam pads to lend us on which to place our sleeping bags, contact Ted Hagan as soon as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Funding for this trip, in large part, is a result of the breakfast sandwich sales throughout the year and the generosity of parishioners. THANK YOU to all those who supported the efforts of our youth!

Outreach Opportunity
Uniform Collection for Crossroads
We are collecting school uniforms on behalf of Crossroads for hundreds of children (K through High School) who attend Detroit public and charter schools in the city. These are children who are cared for in foster homes and those who live in poverty. The following new or gently used items are needed: black, navy blue or khaki pants; white and navy collared shirts; sweaters in uniform colors; belts and underclothing. A collection bin is in the church office lobby through August 2. If you prefer, you may make a donation through PayPal via the Crossroads website at crossroadsofmichigan.org.
|
Entrance to the church parking lot will be closed periodically Monday through Friday for the next couple of weeks due to roof repairs being done close to the driveway. You may enter the church parking lot through South High School's parking lot.

Planning Events, Reserving Space
In an effort to ensure that events are planned well in advance, and to eliminate scheduling conflicts, requests for room reservations must be received at least 21 days in advance of the event. Submitted forms are reviewed at the weekly staff meeting. You will be notified within 24 hours after a decision has been made. You can complete a "green" sheet here.
