 The Spirituality Center Presents
Reading with the Heart: Study as a Spiritual Practice
Mondays, June 24-Aug. 12,6:30-8 pm
at Christ Church
You're invited to participate in this new prayer and discussion group that will study Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr, OFM. This short, but significant book is known for its enlightened spiritual perspective for those in or entering the second half of life.
Why participate? * Experience the joy of sharing with a small group of fellow seekers. * Practice the important distinction between "reading with the heart" and reading with the intellect alone. * Discard some of the unnecessary "mystery" about spiritual practices and deepen your experience of their simplicity and beauty. * Become more present to how God is moving in your life.
 | | Richard Gibson, Ed.D. |
Christ Church member and Spirituality Center board member, Richard S. Gibson, Ed.D., facilitates the group. Richard is a spiritual director, executive coach, management consultant, and trainer.
Cost for 8-week class: $24 per person/$11 for the book if purchased through the Cloister Bookshop. For registration information, see the flyer here or call the church office.

Planning Events, Reserving Space
In an effort to ensure that events are planned well in advance, and to eliminate scheduling conflicts, requests for room reservations must be received at least two weeks in advance of the event. Submitted forms are reviewed by staff at the weekly staff meeting. You will be notified within 24 hours after a decision has been made. You can complete a "green" sheet here.

Wear It and Win!
Our "Wear It And Win" winners for last week are Tracey Torosian and Eliza Hix. Both selected Cloister Bookshop gift certificates and both will also receive an Antiques Show Weekend bonus Cold Stone Creamery gift certificate. Winners were selected at random, again by entrepreneurs, Elizabeth and Bennett Walsh, who negotiated a sweet deal from their dad, chocolate ice cream, for helping us out for a second time. Only one more month to go. Don't miss your chance to Wear It and Win!

Stewardship Shout Out
The Stewardship Committee celebrates the many ways we show our love of God and others through the ministries of Christ Church.
This week we acknowledge the Holy Dusters, Lay Weeders and Adopt-a-Garden ministries. These ministries are groups of men and women who gather three to four times a year to clean specific areas of the church (Holy Dusters) and during the growing season to tend to the church garden beds (Lay Weeders and Adopt-a-Garden). Their ages and abilities vary, but the time and fellowship is as enjoyable as the work they perform. Anyone is welcome to join any one of these groups or to simply help on a one-time basis. Contact Karen Weir to help out with the Holy Dusters, and George Sutton or Candy Sweeny to volunteer as a Lay Weeder or for the Adopt-a-Garden program.
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Isaiah 58:11

I will exalt you, O Lord, because you have lifted me up and have not let my enemies triumph over me. O Lord my God, I cried out to you, and you restored me to health. You brought me up, O Lord, from the dead; you restored my life as I was going down to the grave. Sing to the Lord, you servants of his; give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness Psalm 30:1-4
