Task Force Against Gun Violence in America

When it comes to gun laws, Michigan gets a "C."  The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence ranks each state based on a review of state laws in 29 different firearms-related policy areas. While Michigan ranked 10th out of 50 states, because the state has enacted a modest number of gun violence prevention laws, our state does fall short in some critical areas. Go to smartgunlaws.org to see the publication "Gun Laws Matter 2012: Understanding the Link Between Weak Laws and Gun Violence."  The Task Force meets Saturdays at 9 am. All are invited to attend.

Stewardship Shout Out

The Stewardship Committee celebrates the many ways we show our love of God and others through the ministries of Christ Church.

This week we acknowledge the Christ Church Antiques Show which is held annually the weekend after Memorial Day. The 29th Antiques Show begins Thursday, May 30 and continues through June 2. It is a celebration of craft, art and heritage. The four days offer the opportunity to find gifts, furnishings and those special pieces from dealers and vendors who make the show so memorable. Music, lectures and food enhance the weekend. Proceeds of the show support the performance tours of the Choir of Men and Boys and the Choir of Men and Girls. The Christ Church Outreach Ministries - soup kitchen, emergency food pantry, disaster relief, homeless shelters and family and job counseling -  are also beneficiaries of the show.
