Technology at it's Best!

Kardon Tech

Greetings!

The plans continue!  Most of you know that Kardon Group has offered specialized services to the medical industry for  the past 15 years, and still does.  Although Kardon Tech has many medical clients, we also offer business services to other industries.

Last month, we announced Kardon Technology's marketing focus on the medical field.  Don't worry.  We still service and support small business models. But we are concentrating our marketing efforts in an industry where we have an awful lot of experience and are, well... very good at.

Several months ago, Jason began the CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician course.  We now would like to announce, and congratulate, our new CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician!

When asked about the course, Jason said, "I mean, it was learning about parts of the medical industry that I never really thought about before. I had to understand the types of hospitals, the types of medical professionals, and how my computer knowledge would be used in relation to both." Congratulations Jason!

In other great news, the entire Kardon Technology team has earned their 'Advanced HIPAA Training" Certificates of Completion.  Not anywhere near as complex as Jason's certification (he's been testing a lot), the training included HIPAA Awareness, Privacy and Security Rules and HITECH policies.    Great job team!!!!

Sincerely,

Brian G. Wilson

Why Should They Pick... You?
What Makes You Different?

So, Kardon Technology is working on a new website.  And, now that I put it out there, I suddenly feel enormous pressure.  Nah, we are all excited about it, and it should be ready the first week of July.  Look out for announcements and check it out.

When one is working on first impression marketing materials, you really need to stop and think.  Then you edit and rethink.

Are you the only one out there doing what you do?  That's doubtful.  Are you the best in your field?  Well, that's uhhh... it's possible.  We know Kardon Technology is the best.  What?!  What did you expect me to say?

What are good ways to distinguish yourselves from your competition?  First of all, in order to convey that you are different, you can't believe that 'possible' thought above.  There is no hesitating.  You ARE the best in your field.  May not be the smartest.  You may not even be the fastest.   But for your patient or client base, you are the best.  Suggestions...

If it happened to them, can it...  I came across this article while researching topics about backup and encryption for you.  Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the world's oldest and largest cancer center recently reported a breach

In a letter to patients, MSKCC said, "your information was accessible... because the file was not encrypted or password-protected".  MSKCC has since deleted all copies of the presentation and said in a statement Friday that it has taken significant measures to address their data security.  When I read about these violations, I often wonder who was in charge.  Was someone trying to cut corners, or were they just rushed and slipped up?

Like I said, I was just looking for information to cover details about Kardon Technology's Kardon Backup powered by Intronis, which uses 256-bit AES encryption technology.  WHAT?!  Exactly.  That's why I was looking it up.  Here's what I found...

Question:  I've been told I should consider an MSP...  What exactly is an MSP?

Answer:   Oh, this should be an easy one.  Kardon Technology is a Managed Services Provider (MSP).  That's all I got.

The bosses said that according to Wikipedia, "managed services is the practice of outsourcing day-to-day IT management..."

Now, because there are several kinds of services and providers out there, you need to be sure that the MSP that covers your  IT management is both effective and affordable, and the services that they  offer actually benefit you.

Kardon Technology
offers a wide range of managed services, both monthly packages and stand-alone options.  So, you can tailor something that is right for you now, and can build on as you grow.  Contact Us to schedule your complimentary consultation.

Services That Work

When we first signed on one of our recent clients, they had an industry recognized anti-virus (AV) product.  Managed Anti-Virus is a basic benefit on the Kardon Care Membership, but our workstation and server supervisor can also be configured to verify that your current product is up-to-date.

Shortly after installing and configuring the Kardon Care Membership tools, the system supervisor began logging errors from the AV product currently loaded.  We attempted to reconfigure the settings, but it created a port conflict that prevented client computers from connecting to the server.  Another attempt failed to resolve the problem.

One concern was the expense of trying to reconfigure what they currently owned.  Jason researched the program, and there were several discussions about  known problems.  Industry FAQ's sites and blogs reported, "the software reported consecutive failures then shuts down services"; similar issues to what our system supervisor was reporting.  We could have re-loaded and reconfigured the software, which is what the manufacturer and help pages suggested, but that would take several hours of time.  What were the other options?

Board vs Card Games...

So the question posed to the Kardon Tech staff this month was, Do you prefer playing board games or card games?  Survey says:

Donna:  I usually like any game that includes puzzles, calculations or strategy.  Spades, Poker, Rummy, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary and Scrabble (Words w/ Friends on the iPhone) are some favorites that come to mind right away.

Karla: Board Games.  Boulder Dash is challenging to come up with an answer, and great to play with a group.  I guess I would say that I like games that involve groups or teams.  I incorporate team games in many of the Kardon Events functions.

Jason:  I like card games.  I like playing poker and cribbage. I find there is more strategy and thinking.

Christa:  I'm not really much of a board or card game person unless you consider Darts as a "board" game... however, I have played UNO recently with my niece...  Mostly, I am more of an outdoor games person with the occasional Guitar Hero challenge.

Brian:  As a kid, I always remembered the adults playing card games.  So, when I was 'grown' enough, I was all in.  Bid Whist (a game that is very popular among African Americans, LOL) is one of my favorites, and involves observation, risk and a strategic skill set.

LinkedIn Statistics for Company Pages

Last month, I mentioned the depth of acquisitions LinkedIn has been making.  LinkedIn just announced the Roll Out of their New Statistics for Company Pages.  So, I started to turn my attention to our LinkedIn Company page.  I realized we... have no company page.  Well, it's there, but I've not updated it, and you are not following us on LinkedIn.  So take a minute to visit Kardon Technology on LinkedIn and follow us.  I promise to start posting to our page.

We know everybody is doing everything on Facebook.  Everybody except the people who can't stand Facebook.  But as a professional business network, LinkedIn has held it's own.  Depending on who you talk to, LinkedIn consistently ranks as one of the top social media sites.

I can't say that LinkedIn company page followers are anywhere near as impressive as those on Facebook.  But, there's more interest in the pages, articles and tools.  Read a little more about analyzing your LinkedIn Company Page Statistics.
