Technology at It's Best!

Kardon Tech

Greetings!

So, that caught your attention.  We have a good time selecting topics to share with our clients and friends (the chicken survey is below under 'What Does Kardon Like')!  We have conversations with associates when we are out in the field; Jason when he is on client calls, and me when I'm out there networking.  We discuss things regularly when we are simply out to lunch and dinner.  We even talked about technology when watching the Super Bowl.  Not for long though.  There was beer involved.

Hopefully, if you are reading and sharing our newsletter, you are also a Facebook fan of Kardon Tech, and you have subscribed to our Blog posts.  We try to present developments from our complex industry  in regular ol' English.  Let us know if we miss the mark.

We don't talk, and write, and share because we LOVE technology.  Well that's not completely accurate.  We do love it, and we really enjoy sharing.  But, we also do it because technology is important to you.

What do you need to know?  What would you like to learn a little more about?  What is the latest thing you heard that made you raise an eyebrow?  Contact Us to let us know.  A simple question can be answered by Chantz.  More complex ones may be the next article in the newsletter or a Blog post.  We'll do our best to keep the information we share with you both pertinent and informative.

Sincerely,

Brian G. Wilson

The Eyes and Ears at the Office...

Question:  I have mp3 files that I'd like to share with a client, but they are too large to e-mail.  What can I do?

Answer:  Well, I've given this a great deal of thought.  My first reply... and I just can't seem to shake it is, uhhh... what's an mp3 file?

So, I just checked with the boss, and she said there are  cloud applications you can try, like yousendit.com and Dropbox.  Yousendit lets you e-mail large and/or secure attachments.  Dropbox creates a folder on your computer that you can then share.  Dropbox is not totally secure though, so you need to encrypt the file before you add it to the folder.  Then you can simply e-mail the invitation to share.

Support or Reseller

You can meet with any number of IT providers, and listen to their presentation.  They'll tell you they are this certified or that certified.  Their brochures, website, and other marketing materials are filled with all sorts of badges.  Now, I'm not saying anything is wrong with this.  Nothing at all.  However, if you are shopping for a car, you usually don't go into a Chevrolet dealer to buy a Jaguar.

Why doesn't Kardon Technology market specific vendor solutions?  Well, we have solutions we like and trust, but we aren't going to have you change to something that just doesn't work for you.  If you are using something that we don't currently work with (highly improbable), we'll figure it out (and we always figure it out).   What do we offer...

Services That Work

I heard, "I came back from lunch, and I can't get back on my computer.  I'm stuck in this loop telling me I need to update my security package."  A call we try to avoid by making sure the Managed Anti-Virus is current.  But, a call that can still come in.

Jason was at another client site, and even though he received the call (and message), he had not yet had the opportunity to reply.  The next call was to me.  While sitting in the office, I started to repeat what was being told to me from the other line.  Donna was sitting in the office and said, "Jason has already sent me the incident.  Let her know we are on top of it".  Perfect?  Well... Responsive?

How to Market to Unique BusinessesIntroducing Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office

As many of you are aware, I am out and about an awful lot.  Well, that doesn't sound fun... I meant a great deal.  Whether I am talking to people in the IT arena or not, the response is always the same when discussing marketing solutions for medical practices, attorneys and financial services.

Kardon Group, our parent company, has supported the medical industry since it's inception in 1998 (the inception of Kardon Group, not the medical industry).  Because of our history, we have industry knowledge that is beneficial to most practices.  But, why is getting past the first gatekeeper still a huge challenge each and every day.  For one, the doctors are usually pretty busy trying to, I don't know, save lives.  Things to consider...

Well, it's not really new.  Just new to me.  Well, then again, in the world of Social Media, it IS kind of... new.  But, it certainly is exploding.  In August, Time magazine listed it as one of the 50 Best Websites of 2011.  Followed in December by Hitwise calling it one of the top 10 social media networks, and claimed to be the best new start-up by TechCrunch.  And in January 2012, it was reported to be one of the fastest sites to break the 10 million unique visitor mark.  Even Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has joined the site.

So... what on earth is this now?  The Pinterest landing page says it is simply "an online pinboard.  Organize and share things you love".  Huh?!  The About Us page says, "Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web..."   So, what is it...

A Bit of Fun This Month...

Last month had a semi serious question.  So, this month, I thought I'd lighten things up.  The question to the staff was:

Should fried chicken be eaten with a fork and knife?  Survey says:

Donna:  No way.  That is why it should never be served in a fancy restaurant!

Karla:  It depends on where you are at?  A picnic - fingers.  Casual restaurant - most likely fingers, or a combination of both fingers and utensils.  White linen restaurant?  Order the fish.

Jason:  Always with hands.  It's actually illegal to eat fried chicken with a knife and fork. Check the bottom of a bucket of chicken. It's written in plain English.

Christa:  Uh... I eat fried chicken with my mouth...  I'd have to say a true Southerner uses their fingers instead of a fork and knife because, after all, lick'n your fingers afterwards is the best part!   OK.. OK... unless it's smothered in gravy.  I mean you wouldn't want to burn your fingers, right?.

Brian:  I've had to eat it both ways.  Knife and fork is a VERY rare occasion.  But, I prefer to use my fingers... They don't call it finger licking good for nothing.  Yes, that does mean my mouth serves as the napkin.

I can't tell you where the question came from.  I looked it up, and found this link.  I couldn't believe there weren't more responses, but attached are Some funny replies...
