Greetings!

Welcome to the Annual Lull.  The December holidays have passed, and most things are now put back away in storage.  Everyone has rang in the New Year, and is ether holding on tightly to their resolution before it slips away, or they have already waved good-bye to the memory of this year's resolve.  Most of the country has just enjoyed another Super Bowl, and are getting ready for the awards shows.

Now what?  What happens between President's Day and Memorial Day?  Kardon Events  happens!  We have several event ideas to break up the next few monotonous months.  Social get-togethers can be hosted at your home or a local restaurant or venue.  There are amazing themes you can use to celebrate your friendships and relationships.

Some people take trips with family or friends to refresh their minds and spirits.  You can go to ski or beach regions, for the weekend or an extended stay.  Would you rather rely on AAA or Expedia to build your itinerary, or an experienced planner with international reach to most destinations?

This is also the time of the year that major companies invest time in training and identifying newly implemented procedures and practices.  A memo?  Or a luncheon?  I can assure you an event will deliver the points more effectively.  Make sure your employees are happy to come to work and you'll see improved performance and productivity.  I can't say enough about Client Appreciation events that contribute to retention and growth.

Where to Begin
A theme.  What do you want your event to say?  What do you want your guests to remember about your party?  It all starts with doing something different, out of the ordinary.  Kardon Events plans events from simple to spectacular.  'You event, your way' means exactly that.

Anyone can get a couple of platters.  Or you can spend hours in front of a hot stove praying that everything comes out just right.  You can pick up a couple cases of beer or wine and hope you don't need to run out in the middle of your party to replenish.  Or worse yet, have a lot left over of that one brand that you really don't want to drink for the next couple of weeks.  Did you get ice? Dessert?  Let's start at the beginning.
Did You Know...
I can't recall the last time I attended a White Tie event.  However this is the Awards Show time of year.  This is the season the Arts and Entertainment industries recognizes accomplishments for the previous year's work, often with prestigious events and parties.  Companies, radio stations and other advertisers often hold ticket and event giveaways.   What happens if you win?  What do you wear?!

Even if you aren't attending, we thought it would be interesting topic to understand. White tie requires the most formal evening attire. Unlike Black Tie which allows variations on a theme... (Find Out What You Shouldn't Wear )
Destination - New Orleans, LA
New Orleans.  A city rich in culture, history, food, music and mystique.  All of these elements abound during the Mardi Gras celebration each year.  Technically, "Carnival" begins after the 12 Days of Christmas on January 6th and culminates the day before Ash Wednesday on Fat Tuesday; which, by the way, is the translation for Mardi Gras.  The celebrations typically begin about two weeks prior to Fat Tuesday.  The first parade already marched on the 4th of February this year.  But there will be at least one each night starting on the 15th.

The city is often filled to capacity during the weeks leading up to Mardi Gras.  Many people begin reserving their hotel room the day they leave New Orleans the prior year.  Most hotel 'packages' are booked solid as early as August, especially anywhere near the French Quarter.  What to see in New Orleans...

A Different Kind of Cocktail

Consider a Mardi Gras appetizer at your next event.  The Southern Shrimp Cocktail only takes 15 minutes to prepare. Have the seafood market steam shrimp to save time. Serve the shrimp, okra, and breadsticks on a platter around a bowl of the sauce, or make individual cocktails. Use 4-oz. votive candleholders, shot glasses, cordial glasses, or mini-martini glasses.

Ingredients:
The Paloma

12 unpeeled, jumbo cooked shrimp
Rémoulade Sauce
12 whole pickled okra
12 very thin crispy breadsticks, broken in half
Garnish: grape tomato slices

Preparation
  1. Peel shrimp, leaving tails on; devein, if desired
  2. Spoon 1 heaping Tbsp. of Rémoulade Sauce evenly into each of 12 individual serving glasses.
  3. Place 1 shrimp, 1 whole pickled okra, and 2 breadstick halves in each glass. Garnish, if desired.
  4. Serve immediately

Wine Tasting and Pairing
Did you think we'd forget the Cocktail of the month?  Kardon Events
recently planned and coordinated a Wine Tasting for one of our clients.  With the help of Keith Loften of Hinton's Wine Shop in Alpharetta, GA, we provided a sampling of international vineyards.

So, instead of one cocktail recipe this month, we wanted to share the experience of a few fine wines.  Not only can you enjoy the art of pairing several great Reds and Whites, but you can plan a pairing event of your own.  Wine and food matching is the process of pairing food dishes with wine to enhance the dining experience.  See the list and plan a pairing event...
