Hurricane Sandy
Set up a WhatFriendsDo team for families affected by Hurricane Sandy. WhatFriendsDo tools are designed to help in times of emergency and this storm certainly qualifies!
  • The team's blog serves as a perfect place to keep a journal.
  • One centralized team contact can relay information to everyone.
  • In case of a power outage or when time doesn't allow for numerous phone calls, a WhatFriendsDo team allows friends and loved ones to stay up to date on what is happening with their friend.
  • A WhatFriendsDo team is a convenient and current place for coordinating any needed clean-up and relief help.
  • Friends can donate funds to help with recovery costs and know that it's going directly to help their friend.

Greetings!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is nearing an end for this year, but our desire to support our friends who have breast cancer never ends.  At WhatFriendsDo our goal is to provide not only the tools to help our friends, but also creative and uplifting ideas for helping our friends through challenging times.

Here are some of our favorite autumn ideas:

We love hearing from WhatFriendsDo users who have done creative things for their friends.  One team is celebrating Pink Sock Tuesdays while their friend undergoes treatments for Breast Cancer.  While their friend, Katie, gets infused on Tuesdays she is able to check Facebook throughout the day and enjoy pictures friends post of their tootsies in pink socks.  It's become a bright spot to her week, as you can read in her message below.

Helping your friend have a cheerful day is always good, and will also make your day cheerful. WhatFriendsDo has an idea for every day of the year!
A Message from Katie

At a dinner gathering the weekend before my chemotherapy was to begin, a dear friend bought pink socks for everyone to show their support, and we decided we would wear them on the day of my first treatment.  As I was nervously getting ready that morninPink Socksg, my cell phone buzzed with a Facebook notification.  A close friend had taken a picture from her couch wearing her pink socks.  Throughout the day, friends posted similar pictures and thus began "Pink Sock Tuesdays".  I never imagined looking forward to my chemotherapy treatments, but the pictures of support gave me something to be excited about.  People have posted pictures with their children, entire families, pets, and pumpkins wearing pink socks.  I am so thankful to have a wonderful team supporting me during this time!

Want to show Katie your support?  Post a picture of your pink socks on our facebook page on Tuesday!

We may not be able to change that outcome, but we hope to change the journey.
