Pepsi to Phase Out Cancer-Causing Caramel Coloring |

More than a year after pledging to reformulate its products to eliminate a cancer-causing chemical, Pepsi purchased from ten states still contains high levels of a carcinogenic caramel coloring, according to independent testing commissioned by the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) released last week. In response to the study, Pepsi this week committed to removing the coloring nationwide by 2014.

Carbon Trust Announces New Waste Standard |

On Wednesday, the Carbon Trust announced plans to launch the world's first international standard for organisations to certify that they are managing and reducing waste. The Carbon Trust Waste Standard, to be launched later this year, will require organisations to measure, manage and reduce their solid and hazardous waste.

Coca-Cola, Britvic Sign on to Soft Drink Sustainability Roadmap |

Coca-Cola and Britvic, along with half of the UK's foremost soft drink producers and suppliers, have joined the Soft Drinks Sustainability Roadmap, a supply chain study designed to reduce the environmental footprint of soft drink products. The roadmap claims to be the first to outline the £1.3 billion UK soft drinks sector's effect on the environment and offer recommendations on how the impact can be reduced.
