Walmart Sets 2017 Target for Supply Chain Improvement, Takes Sustainability Consortium to China
Walmart this week announced a series of steps and commitments intended to increase the sustainability of its supply chain in the U.S. and China. By the end of 2017, Walmart said it will buy 70 percent of the goods it sells in U.S. stores only from suppliers that use the Sustainability Index – a rating system used to evaluate and share the sustainability of products.

Environmental reporting increased significantly in the last year, according to Newsweek magazine's ranking of the 500 largest U.S. companies and 500 largest global companies. This score is derived from three component scores: an environmental impact score, an environmental management score, and an environmental disclosure score.
