About OC Math Circle
The Orange County Math Circle was founded in 2007 by math enthusiast Johnny Li (Harvard University, Class of 2015) to bring his experience from San Diego Math Circle to share with more students in his hometown. Please read Orange County Math Circle, A Service Learning Project by Dr. Michelle Muratori of Johns Hopkins University to learn more about its history.

Dear friends,
An organization like ours consists of students that wish to contribute to the community. Not only do our volunteers care for the kids they help out, but they care about teaching for the sake of teaching and learning for the sake of learning.
The Orange County Math Circle is committed to bringing about change throughout OC. We hope to inspire children to learn and develop new critical thinking skills. But we also hope to change the environment in Orange County by raising awareness about math and science competitions.
That's why we are pleased to announce that OCMC is now in the news. Just last month we were covered by the Orange County Register for the New Year's Invitational and we have since been contacted by a Korean broadcasting channel to film our work in Santa Ana.
As we continue to provide service to our community, it is our hope that more coverage follows, since the work we do is important both for the students we help out NOW but also for the future OC students that one day might want to explore math.

Math for Service Grant Opportunity February - April, 2012 Jonathan Li, founder of Orange County Math Circle, has formed a new organization, Math for Service. The goal of Math for Service is to support students-initiated service-learning projects in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). One of our first initiatives is the Math for Service Grant. It will be aimed to help local start-up organizations prosper by providing some initial funding. We hope that this program will both encourage student initiatives, as well as ease the burden of finances. All are welcome to apply. Please email Jonathan Li at [email protected] if you are interested. |
