Improving Sanitation, Improves Lives
It is common knowledge that well kept infrastructure allows cities to develop and prosper. And most people agree that improving sanitation will improve the lives of the people in our community. However, budget constraints, competing priorities, and limited resources can limit the ability to put the right solutions in place. Whether you are an elected official or community activist interested in improving public restrooms, the good news is, you don't need to do it all by yourself.
Non-profit organizations like the World Toilet Organization (WTO) and PHLUSH are dedicated to bringing awareness to the impacts when proper sanitation isn't maintained and helping you advocate for your community's needs.
World Toilet Day is an event started by the WTO which is celebrated each November. Here are three ads they have placed in major publications to expand awareness of the impacts of poor sanitation and lack of basic toilets. Follow this link to their website to find out more about their mission and success throughout the world. http://worldtoilet.org/
PHLUSH
(Public Hygene Lets Us Stay Human) is an organization that
believes that toilet availability is a human right and that well-designed sanitation systems restore health to our cities, our waters and our soils. They have put together an extensive document called the Public Toilet Advocacy Toolkit to empower advocates to bring change. With examples and action steps, the Public Toilet Advocacy Toolkit covers everything need to bring change.
We hope these resources help you increase awareness and provide the necessary support to be successful in your community. Please call us if we can assist.
