Stalking Awareness
January is National Stalking Awareness Month. Though it may seem like a separate issue, stalking and domestic violence often go hand in hand. 76% of women killed by an intimate partner were stalked also by that partner. Stalking includes approaching the victim or showing up in places when the victim didn't want them to be there; making unwanted telephone calls; leaving the victim unwanted messages; and watching or following the victim from a distance, or spying on the victim with a listening device, camera, or GPS. Our agency has resources for victims of stalking as well, including providing assistance with Stalking Protective Orders. To learn more, call us 24/7 at (404) 688-9436.

Jenna's Story
This month, we are featuring Jenna's story on our website. Jenna says, "I came to the safe house with one goal, to be in my own place by Christmas. At first everything was going well. Then my husband showed up at work and threatened me. I was afraid and really thought about quitting, but the police and my supervisor told me they would do everything they could to help me feel safe. The safe house staff also helped me come up with a safety plan. I was so glad because I didn't want him getting in my way anymore. I was ready to have my life back." Visit our website to read more from Jenna about her stay in our safe house with her daughters.
