July News from WRCDV
This month we have Camp PEACE photos and stories for you as well as a special request.

Ending violence one child at a time

Camp PEACE, our summer camp program for children who have experienced domestic violence, is in full swing. If you need a refresher on what Camp PEACE is all about, please check out this short video. This year, our camp session has been extended to a full eight weeks to allow our campers twice the time to learn techniques to manage their emotions, peacefully solve conflict, and build compassion. Plus, they are having lots of fun. Take a look at these photos from the summer so far.

Kendrah's Story

This month we are sharing Kendrah's story on our website. Kendrah is a two-time Camp PEACE camper who says, "I really love Camp PEACE because I did not know how to show my inner emotions by using words. Once I learned how to be compassionate and to be mindful then I could express my feelings without hitting or shouting." Visit our website to read more about her experiences.

Summer food assistance

Have you noticed your grocery bill climbing since the kids got out of school? So have many of the moms using our services. Consequently, we are running low on kid-friendly foods in our food pantry. Please consider making a purchase of canned pasta (like Spaghetti-O's), fruit, milk or juice boxes, granola bars, and/or peanut butter from our food pantry wish list. A few clicks can make a big difference for a family trying to regain stability after leaving a violent home. Thanks!
