Sharing Our Dream

On November 13, almost 50 women gathered with hosts Edie Cofrin and Christine Tryba-Cofrin and Dream Fund Chair Ann Daiss to hear about our dreams. We shared our dreams for the agency, our dreams for the women we serve, and the dreams those women have shared with us.

As an organization, we dream of a core group of women and men who will stand with us, fight for us, and financially support our mission to end violence against women. We dream of providing the women we serve with the resources they need to be safe and to build the life they envision for themselves and their children. Those resources are sometimes unusual, unconventional, or seemingly unattainable, but WRC excels in creating a way when there seems to be none and we dream of doing so even more.

The women who use our services have dreams, too. They probably sound familiar. They dream of safety for themselves and their children. They dream of having enough: enough food, enough energy to keep up with their kids, enough stamina to make it through another shift, enough faith to plan for the happiest of futures, and enough money to pay the electric bill. We want them to dream even bigger and we want to fulfill big dreams.

Because of the incredibly generous matching challenge issued by Christine Tryba-Cofrin, we have been able to raise more than $33,000 toward our goal of $50,000, and we have an inaugural group of Dreamers to stand with us and support our work.
