August Newsletter 2014

AUGUST 2014 NEWSLETTER

"Committed to promoting growth, visibility, prosperity, making a positive impact on our community and fostering a network of mutual support amongst our members."

Your membership is coming up for renewal soon. Perhaps you have missed a few meetings and are not totally up to par on what Your membership dollars have achieved. Please take a moment to review how the MBPA has invested your money and our future goals. Your continued support adds much more than many think. Please pass the word, invite your friends to join, attend special events, and watch as the new patrons stroll into your town/stores. You can also take advantage of the discounted rate if you pay before September.

Network meetings:
These have received a great turnout. Our goal is to link you with other businesses so that you can find the right contacts to achieve your goals. We have had Builders, Bankers, Realtors, Cedit Processors, and many others that can help you onto the right path. Joanne continues to research locations and connect with other business organizations to enhance your experience. Stay tuned to the Newsletter so that you do not miss these events.

New & Improved General Meetings:
We got the message when we realized that the turnout was much less than what we expected. We know that your time is valuable and we greatly appreciate when you spend it at the meetings. Our goal is to help YOU. Without you, we are guessing what you need from us. In short, we strongly advise you to make the time and help us stay focused on YOUR goals. We are currently booked into January with some great speakers. Our goal is to not only touch on important local events but also to help you build your business know how. If you have any questions about speakers please let us know. Speakers are always included in the Newsletter.

Web Site Enhancements: www.malvernbusiness.com:
We are working to improve our website on a continual basis. The more feedback we get here the better. The glitches that you notice are also noticed by your new prospective customers. Please help us help you by tweaking these glitches out.
We are now I-pad and smart phone compatible? This has taken a lot of work. The current statistics are that over 60% of searches are done on smart phones. We are striving to keep a forward motion and attract customers for you by keeping up with current technology. Our future goals are to streamline searches on our site, and to position the site better into search engines.

Malvern Stroll:
The Malvern Stroll seems to be working to attract new folks, at least based on the most recent stats. We strongly encourage businesses to pass the word. Let us know if you intend to stay open on these events so that we can let people know.

Malvern Victorian Christmas:
Have you noticed all the publicity on this event? A lot of this publicity is free. This is a huge event that attracts many more each year. This is a break-even event with us because we invest so much into it. Recently we have added large magazine articles that are expensive but this event is paying for itself. It continues to grow each year which will bring more holiday shoppers. It is a great family tradition too!

Blooms, Harvest Festival, & Farmers market:
Are you one of those merchants that feel that this is a nuisance? Please take a moment to look at the big picture. These events continue to keep folks coming back to your town. These events keep getting bigger and bigger bringing more and more new people that never even thought of coming to Malvern. We have paid very skilled professionals to run and publicize these events for years now. Just like Victorian Christmas, these are break even events. We incourage you to continue to promote these events and most importantly, take a day to enjoy with the family.

Flower baskets, Town improvements, Fire company events & Trolley tour:
Malvern is a great community and has so much to offer. The flowers that have been added this year by the MBPA along King is another example of beautifying the town to make it more friendly. Margie from Malvern Flowers has done a superb job with the backing of the MBPA and the Borough has been very helpful in the watering of them. The town itself has become more walker friendly with the new curbs and sidewalks and new ones going in now on Warren and Channing.

August 02 (Pig Roast) & 07 (Trolley Tour)
We have another great event coming up on August 7, with the Town Tours. About 300 people have signed up for the trolley rides so far so we need to put on a "good-face" for all the out-of-towners so they will want to come back and shop, eat and play. Hopefully the businesses will be open so when the trolleys go by on King Street the people will see what a great town Malvern really is. The Historical Commission has done a great job on this and is something we need to build on. The National Bank is very much involved with this and will be making a presentation to all who come about the Bank and The Malvern Inn and their history in the Borough. The trolleys will be making a stop at the park on Monument Avenue as well to hear more about the history of the Battle of Paoli and its impact on the town.

We know people come to the Borough for special events. Just look at the recent Malvern Fire Company Fair. Frank and I, were there on Friday night and you could hardly walk around there were so many people. They have another event coming up on August 2nd for the pig roast and this is a great way to show our appreciation for them by coming out to support the company.

"There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."
