March 2014 NEWSLETTER

"Committed to promoting growth, visibility, prosperity, making a positive impact on our community and fostering a network of mutual support amongst our members."

I hope everyone has recovered from the power outage and many snow storms. It's been a tough winter, but Spring is just around the corner. Let's focus forward.

MBPA General Meeting: Even though the Board Meeting of February 5th was cancelled due to the weather, the General Meeting, February 12, 2014, was well attended and well received. Our guest speaker Dave Burton, Mayor of the Borough, and his wife Linda were in attendance. Dave was excited about being Mayor and 100% enthused about the future of Malvern. He is very public minded and his door is always open to businesses and residents alike. If by chance you missed the meeting, stop in at the Borough Hall and say hello to Dave Burton.

We also were informed by Lou Marcelli, the Police Chief about the snow removal protocol for the Borough. Coincidentally, that evening (2/12) a reverse 911 call went out regarding the declaration of a "Snow Emergency" with information on where to go for shelter and important contact information for power outages, etc. Be sure to check www.Malvern.org for any further information and updates.

Matt Radano, a member of the Borough Council, spoke about his love of Malvern and his vision for its future. His energy is infectious and he is a tremendous asset to the Council.

 Winter Farmers Market:

Malvern Winter Farmers Market dates are March 1st and 15th, April 5th and 19th. The winter location is in the First Baptist Church of Malvern from 10:00 AM to 12:00Noon. Come for the market, stay for the shopping.

Happy Anniversary: In 2014 Malvern Borough will be celebrating their 125th anniversary of incorporation. The Malvern Historical Commission is working hard on plans for this celebration and we want to be a part of it! One of the ways we can show our support is through the purchase of banners. Banners are currently planned for King Street and Warren Avenue, but there are fourteen (14) banners with hardware left. If you are interested in a banner, contact Lynne Hockenbury Chair of the Malvern Historical Commission at lynnehock@aol.com for further details.

Card Exchange Success: Many thanks to Joanne Resendiz for her coordination of the very successful card exchanges. The third exchange was February 19th at Peppercorn's and was well attended by over 100 guests. Joanne is currently planning a few more and information is forthcoming.
