Join Portland's Community and Police Relations Committee at CNN May 15
The City of Portland Community and Police Relations Committee (CPRC) is hosting their regular meeting at Central NE Neighbors (CNN) to broaden participation from all areas on Wednesday, May 15, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at 4415 NE 87th Ave. All welcome!
  
CPRC is a subcommittee of the City of Portland Human Rights Commission (HRC). The CPRC's purpose and mission to bring together members of Portland's diverse communities and its police officers to improve community and police relations, further an authentic community policing culture, serve as an advisory body, and promote dignity, understanding, and respect in police and community interactions. The Chair of the CPRC serves on the Human Rights Commission. The CPRC is comprised of 15 members - of whom 5 are Human Rights Commissioners, 5 are Portland Police Bureau members (sworn), and 5 are additional Community Members.

May City Budget Forums

The City of Portland invites you to participate in the three upcoming City Budget Forums.

The Budget Forums provide you with the opportunity to share with City Council how you will be impacted by the City's budget decisions and express which City services are most important to Portland residents. The forums will be similar to Council hearings, in which you can sign-up to testify before City Council.

May is Bike Month!
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) sponsors breakfasts, events throughout Portland in celebration of National Bike Month. PBOT is hosting over a dozen events, including rides, clinics and refreshment stations to encourage people to bike and thank those currently riding. PBOT will be serving coffee and doughnuts to people biking at 7 locations throughout the city, including Thurs, May 23 in Roseway, NE Sacramento St. and 67th Ave. One location, decided by the most votes received, will be served eggs-in-a-nest and fresh brewed coffee from Trailhead Roasters' cargo bike cafe. 2013 Gun Turn-In Event in Portland
A collaboration of Mayor Charlie Hales, Portland Police Bureau, the Office of Neighborhood Involvement, Multnomah County, the Rosewood Initiative, and the Ceasefire Oregon Education Foundation-The event takes place Saturday, May 11 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Lynwood Friends Church 835 SE 162nd. A gift certificate will be available for each workable gun turned in.

Sunday Parkways is a series of free community events opening the city's largest public space - its streets - for people to walk, bike, roll and discover active transportation. Estimates put total attendance at more than 100,000 annually. Residents and visitors say they come to enjoy the traffic-free loop of streets connecting parks and schools filled with activities, music and vendors.
