ONI, and all city bureaus, were required by Mayor Charlie Hales to submit a 10% cut to each of their budgets. The ONI Budget Advisory Committee (BAC), on which neighborhood and other civic involvement groups are well represented, is proposing 'add-back' restoration to those cuts. Your testimony at these public hearings will indicate to the new Council that there is community support for the restoration of funds for neighborhood and community involvement services. The final of these forums is Thursday, April 11th, 6:30pm-8:30pm Montgomery Park 2701 NW Vaughn St. (Spanish translation available). In addition, Council will hold a hearing for the Mayor's Proposed Budget.Thursday, May 16th, 6:30pm-8:30pm at City Hall 1221 SW 4th Ave.

The PAC has from nine to 15 members who represent a cross-section of Portlanders, including walking and mobility advocates, neighborhood activists, environmental design professionals and citizens-at-large.The PAC meets the third Tuesday each month in the evening at City Hall. Members are appointed to a 4-year term. Applications are due by 5 PM Thursday, April 18, 2013. 2013 Sunday Parkways Schedule is Out!

Residents and visitors say they come to enjoy the traffic-free loop of streets connecting parks and schools filled with activities, music and vendors.  Assistance in your Neighborhood After a Major Earthquake
After a major, destructive earthquake, phone systems could crash. Computers, smart phones and other communication devices may become useless. If you're sick, injured or in danger, how will you call for help? The Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) is in the process of establishing 48 Basic Earthquake Emergency Communication Node (BEECN) sites throughout the city. BEECNs are places to go for emergency assistance and information during a post-earthquake communications blackout. Workers at BEECN sites will use radios to relay calls for help to first responders. During this time, OPB radio 91.5 FM may broadcast official emergency messages directly from the City of Portland. A map of BEECNs arrived in all Portlanders' mailboxes in December. Updated information is available at www.PublicAlerts.org. PBEM's goal is to have each of these temporary nodes activated under a clearly marked red and white shelter within 24 hours of an earthquake, if needed.
