Smart and Connected: The Next Big Idea in Cities

This free public lecture is by Intel innovation strategist and UO in Portland guest instructor Herman D'Hooge.  D'Hooge will discuss how urbanization affects a city's infrastructure, resources, and services, and how "smart city" design can help. D'Hooge and his students studied the "The Portland Plan," a 25-year strategic plan guiding the city of Portland, to develop ideas on how to implement the plan more efficiently and with smart city design innovations. Keeping cities economically prosperous, livable, healthy, and environmentally sustainable will require new approaches and innovations in all city systems. Join January 31 6 PM, University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts, 70 NW Couch Street. Please RSVP to aaapdx@uoregon.edu or call 503-412-3718.
