CNN Grant Proposals are Due November 1st!

Only a few weeks left to apply!!

We invite neighborhood and community organizations in the CNN area to submit a project proposal.  

 

This year, a total of $10, 000 is available  Grant proposals may range from $500 to $2,000. 

 

If you missed the grant workshop on Sept. 25th please contact Sandra Lefrancois at 503-823-2780 or sandral@cnncoalition.org to get feedback on your project proposal in the CNN area.

Free ABC's of Land Use Workshop Oct. 13th

Only three spaces available!

Learn the basics of how the City of Portland's land use and development review processes work. Get hands-on experience with a land use review case study, including review of a development proposal and site plan, identification of relevant issues, and effective ways to respond to the approval criteria. Saturday, October 13th 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Central Northeast Neighbors, 4415 NE 87th Ave.

Theatre Workshops that Build Community Starts October 13th at CNN

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

Join residents living and working along the 82nd corridor to engage in theatrical conversation about home, community, and our neighborhoods! We'll use interactive theatre from Brazil as a way of creating connection and exploring the issues our communities face. No theatre experience necessary-- all community members are welcome. All workshops are free of charge, and food and childcare will be provided! To reserve or for more information contact tamara@livingstages.org 503-334-7491. Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grants Program
Next round of Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grant funding is now open. Metro is seeking applications for projects that re-green and re-nature neighborhoods. Full applications are accepted only from applicants who have been invited to apply after submitting a letter of interest. Letters of Interest are accepted at any time and staff encourage applicants to submit as soon as possible.  Please note that it will be difficult for any project submitting a Letter of Interest after November 15th to incorporate staff feedback into a full application by the deadline. Full applications are due by 4  p.m. January 28, 2013.

The City is Updating its Comprehensive Plan
The City of Portland is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a long-range 20-year plan that sets the framework for the physical development of the city. Portland originally developed it's Comprehensive Plan in 1980; periodic updates of the plan are mandated by the State of Oregon. The Comprehensive Plan Update will help to implement the Portland Plan, the City's strategic plan for a prosperous, educated, healthy and equitable Portland. There are three key components to the Comp Plan: goals and policies, the set of maps of future growth, and the list of capital projects.  Read more about the Comprehensive Plan here
Audubon Society Neighborhood Greening Exchange
Join a half-day forum on community-driven greenspace projects at Ventura Park Elementary School (Tentative) on Saturday, November 3, 9:30am to 1pm. What is it? A half-day forum to share information and strategies on community driven neighborhood park, natural area, and other greenspace projects. This is an opportunity to inspire and educate new community greenspace advocates. Also, a forum to discuss strategies for effective and successful community organizing, outreach to diverse communities, fund raising, effective collaboration with local governments, the media, businesses, and non-profit organizations. Who should come? Individuals interested in learning how to develop and implement a neighborhood green space projects, including trails, community gardens, natural area acquisition and restoration, or other public greenspace efforts www.audubonportland.org.
