Madison Student Seeds of Cuisine Farmers Market is August 9th! | The Seeds of Cuisine is a five-week summer program rooted in experiential learning. Integrating Language Arts, Social Studies and Science into cooking and gardening, the course supports students in meeting their academic goals by offering credit recovery, practical skills, and community engagement. Gun Turn-In Event August 18th | Mayor Sam Adams, Portland Police Bureau, the Office of Neighborhood Involvement, and the Ceasefire Oregon Education Foundation Present 2012 Gun Turn-In Saturday, August 18, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Memorial Coliseum, 300 North Winning Way - North Benton Parking Lot. For each workable gun you turn in, you will receive a $75 Fred Meyer gift certificate (limit of three Fred Meyer certificates per person, while supplies last). No questions asked. For each inoperable gun, BB gun, or pellet gun, you will receive a $5 gift certificate to Burgerville, while supplies last. The upcoming community engagement town hall meetings are designed for you to provide us with your input prior to the development of the City's 2013 State Legislative Agenda. We want to hear from you about issues that are facing your neighborhoods and communities, as we begin preparing for the 2013 State Legislative Session. The first two town halls are designed to be listening sessions with a third town hall being scheduled in January 2013. In addition, an "Advocacy 101 Workshop" will be scheduled in January 2013 to provide information on how to be a more effective advocate for your neighborhood and community during the 2013 state legislative session. | Comment on Proposed Change to Neighborhood Involvement Standards . | We invite you to comment on a proposed change to Section IX - Review of Office of Neighborhood Involvement Standards of the ONI Standards. Written public comment is welcome through Friday, September 28, 2012. This proposed change will: Allow more frequent and easier updating of the ONI Standards;
Give the ONI Bureau Advisory Committee (BAC) a greater role in reviewing and recommending updates; and Allow a broader diversity of stakeholders to be involved in the amendment process.

The 42nd Avenue Street Fair is August 26th! | The 42nd Ave. Street Fair will be centered around NE 42nd Avenue and Alberta Court, from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday,August 26th. Kids on bikes and pets in costumes are invited to join in the kick-off parade, leaving from NE Killingsworth at 12pm. Awards for best bike decorations and pet costumes will follow! The event will also feature vendor booths, kids' activities, a beer garden and the Classic Car Cruise-in for a Cure. Our Naturescaping & Rain Garden workshops teach sustainable gardening practices that reduce pollution and conserve water while saving you time, money and energy. We manage registration and promotion; providing professional presenters, fliers, and workbooks.
