SUFFOLK COUNTY SPCA INVESTIGATES ANOTHER ACT OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE

The Suffolk County SPCA is reaching out to the public for information about another possible ritualistic killing of an animal.

Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that this time the severely decomposed part of an animal, possibly a tongue from a large animal, was found bound to a tree on Wilson Blvd., Central Islip and was examined by Dr. John Charos, a Suffolk County SPCA Veterinarian

and two SPCA officers.  The wooded area on the west side of the property where it was found is surrounded by residential property. The east side of the property is commercial property that is abandoned.  The remains were hanging approx. 6 feet off the ground and wrapped in a black shirt and wrapped with black yarn which was screwed to the tree. The shirt had a treble hook attached to the bottom of it. The animal part was approximately 300 feet off of the road.  "Unjustifiably slaughtering an animal is a crime and will not be tolerated," Gross said.

A one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) reward is being offered by the Suffolk County SPCA for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for animal slaughter.  The New York State Humane Association is also offering a one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) reward.

Gross said that anyone with information can call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722 and that all calls will be kept confidential.
