SUFFOLK COUNTY SPCA ASKS THE PUBLIC FOR HELP TO STOP RITUALISTIC ANIMAL SACRIFICE
The Suffolk County SPCA is reaching out to the public for information about ritualistic killing of animals.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that because of the increased amount of animals found slaughtered by what appears to be ritualistic animal sacrifice in Suffolk County, officers from the Suffolk County SPCA will be distributing flyers with information on how to report this type of crime. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individual that participates in this type of activity.
On or around June 24th a gruesome discovery was made and reported to NYS DEC who then repor ted it to the Suffolk County SPCA. The dead animals were found on the Otis Pike Preserve on Line Rd., Riverhead in a desolate area. The heads were found nearby as were fruits and vegetables. This discovery appeared ritualistic in nature. Previously dead roosters were found hanging from a tree at the intersection of Spur Dive South and Freeman Avenue in Islip.
These are just a few of the many reported cases of this type.
Gross said that anyone with information can call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722 and that all calls will be kept confidential.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. "Protecting Suffolk County's animals is the only job we do!"
