MANORVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED ON

ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES

The Suffolk County SPCA has arrested a Manorville woman for Animal Cruelty for allegedly neglecting and abusing a 3 month old mixed-breed puppy.  Claudette Lacast, 56, of 174 Eastport Manor Rd., Manorville was arrested by SPCA Detectives after they received a tip from a Veterinarian at Bide-a-Wee in Westhampton.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that the male puppy was suffering from hypothermia, severe emaciation, and it had frostbite on its ears. Gross said that the puppy's temperature didn't even register on a thermometer and that it probably would have only survived a couple of more hours.  The puppy is still in critical condition and may possibly lose its ears due to the frostbite.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
