Alumni Newsletter |November 2015
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thanksgiving is when we take time to remember what we are thankful for in our lives. Whether it be family, health, friends or wealth, we are thankful for all of God's blessings. As CUW alumni, we can be grateful to have received the education and experience from an organization that prepares us to serve others through our vocation, no matter what we have chosen to do.

Many of us have been blessed abundantly in a variety of ways, so during this advent season consider how you can bless others through your gifts. We have the ability to make a difference.

No matter where you are in your life, CUW is here to serve you or be the avenue for you to serve others.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

New Dean for School of Arts & Science!
Steve 2
Concordia University Wisconsin officials have announced Dr. Steven Montreal as the new University Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences.

What can one less latte do?
Would you give up one latte a week to help a CUW student? Your donation of $5 a week can make a difference in the life of a student and the community they'll serve by helping them become a Lutheran teacher, nurse, police officer, sales manager, pastor, physical therapist or maybe a social worker. Most people don't realize 98% of CUW students who needed financial aid received financial help through scholarships. Did you receive a scholarship and are you thankful for your education?  Here is your opportunity to pay it forward and support future CUW alumni.

We are 24,500 strong! Just think what a difference we could make for the students if even 20% of us would give $20 a month, or more. You can even designate your support to a specific program.  Please consider making a monthly gift to support student scholarships. You won't miss that $20 a month but collectively, the students will notice our gifts. If you are feeling generous, consider donating a $1,000 for the "Adopt a Student" program. Click here to make difference. Questions? Call us at 1-888-700-8336 or 262-243-4423 or email me.

Thank you for the consideration of supporting future leaders with servant hearts.

Alumni Social with some Hockey - December 5th
You don't need to be a hockey player to enjoy the thrill of the game. Join in on the fun at a CUW alumni social at the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday, December 5 from 5-7 pm. Watch as the Women's Hockey team takes on St. Norbert at 3:00 pm and/or as the Men's Hockey team takes on Aurora at 7:00 pm. Then in between games, have some food and drinks while connecting with other CUW alumni. Come for one event or for all the events. The food is complimentary with a minimal admission charge into the hockey games.

In addition the CUW Hockey program is hosting a "Pink the Rink" event that night to raise awareness and funds for the Angel on my Shoulder organization. They will be selling pink beanies, pink scarves and game worn jerseys. You can learn more about them here.

CUW Student Volunteer Club
looking for Opportunities to Serve!
Do you ever need volunteers for your church or other organizations you are associated with? The CUW Student Volunteer Club exists to provide students with service opportunities on and off campus which benefit primarily the Ozaukee and Milwaukee Counties. The club members volunteer several times a month for one-time events.

They are always interested in working with new organizations and/or people. So if you have a volunteer opportunity for our students, please email
Katherine Lewis the date, time commitment, location, activity and number of volunteers needed by the 1st of each month.
