Alumni Newsletter - July 2014 |
Let me introduce myself; I am Michelle Wagner and am honored and thrilled to be your new CUW Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. I have been in the Milwaukee area for about twenty-five years and am a graduate of the CUW Adult Accelerated Program. Most recently I served as the Director of PR/Fund Development for Lutheran Special School & Education Services based out of Milwaukee.
I am looking forward to working with you to continue your experience with CUW through events, continuous learning, professional/social networking, community service, and sharing stories of alumni and faculty. As we grow together, please feel free to share items of interest for the newsletter and/or your ideas with me on how we can serve you through an event or program.
Your CUW is an exciting and changing institution! If you have not been on campus in the last five years, I encourage and invite you to stop in for a visit and we will show you around. In the meantime, you can read about current events and stories, including our inaugural "Lake Moon Festival" scheduled for Saturday, August 9th. Wishing us all God's guidance and blessings,
Michelle "Mickie" Wagner

2014 Graduation
Congratulations to the Class of 2014! We welcome you as CUW alumni!
The R. John Buuck Field House was filled with excitement as families and students gathered for two separate commencement ceremonies. On Friday, May 16, Governor Scott Walker addressed the 531 students graduating from one of the twenty master's programs and four doctoral programs, including the sixty-six students from the School of Pharmacy's Genesis Class. On Saturday, Dr. Norman Sell, retired LCMS Foundation President and Past Treasurer of the LCMS, addressed the 466 undergraduate students.
As these graduates go into the mission field and start their professional vocations, they need the prayers of their preceding alumni for God's guidance. Their stories continue...

Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Luptak on His Retirement from CUW
Dr. Andrew Luptak has touched thousands of lives during his 48 years at Concordia and left his mark on the history of Concordia Wisconsin. He began the first collegiate football program and served as coach for 25 years, as well as starting the wrestling program and suggesting Freddy the Falcon's name and costume.
Andy was an innovator and introduced many academic programs including the Student Personnel Administration (SPA) program. He was a key in helping the university start the Peacemaker program, as well as bringing the LA 105 Higher Ed course to reality.
Matthew 25:21 ...well done good and faithful servant.

Inaugural Physician Assistant Program's "White Coat" Ceremony
