ALUMNI NEWS & EVENTS
July 2013
GREETINGS from CUW!

Waves gently breaking along the beach.  A light breeze rustling the leaves of trees.

A bat hitting a baseball.

Monday, July 1, 2013, sounded like just another summer day on CUW's Mequon campus.  But beneath the ambient sounds of summer, a groundbreaking milestone for the future of CUW and our close neighbors across the lake at Concordia University Ann Arbor had finally been reached.

Though this process began years ago, July 1 was the first official day of a new partnership between CUW and CUAA. CUW's acquisition of CUAA means an expanded reach for CUW and increased programs and academic offerings at CUAA. Each campus will retain its own distinct identity.  (Click here to read more)

Your Concordia is not just a place or a building, it is a Christ-centered, mission-driven,

higher education community. CUW's reach extends farther than ever, and we will

continue to move forward together with hearts and minds as Concordia.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

CUW ALUMNI NIGHT at the LAKESHORE CHINOOKS a SUCCESS!

Great baseball.  Great food.  Great people.  Great

location.  With all those great things combined, it

should be no surprise that this event sold out and

that additional seats had to be purchased to

accommodate even more guests.  CUW alumni

enjoyed the game from an exclusive party deck

at  Kapco Park full of food, drinks, and great

views  of the field.

The Chinooks even threw in some extra baseball

for free.  The game was suspended after

16 innings, ending with a 3-3 tie.

REUNION WEEKEND ATTRACTS ALUMNI from ALL OVER the NATION

CUW Alumni from over 10 states

attended Reunion Weekend from

June 21-23 on CUW's Mequon

campus. Events featured a dinner

and reception with President Ferry,

a chance to return to the classroom,

and a Lakeshore Chinooks game.

RECEPTION at NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING
WELCOMES CUW & CUAA ALUMNI

Once every three years, the Lutheran

Church - Missouri Synod hosts the

National Youth Gathering (NYG).

Commonly referred to as "The Gathering",

this massive event welcomed over 25,000

participants (mostly  high school students)

from all over the country to

San Antonio, Texas.

As so many Concordia alumni are actively

involved in church work, the NYG is filled

with them.  Over 150 alumni from both

CUW and CUAA attended a joint

reception filled with food and fellowship

at a restaurant along the beautiful

San Antonio Riverwalk.

Events like this are a great way to keep alumni connected to Concordia and to each other. If you have ideas for future events or feedback for us, we'd love to hear from you
