Merry Christmas!
A collective sigh of relief just blew through the hallways. Finals week is done and our students are heading home. I had the opportunity to be on campus late one evening as students were studying. Of course they had to bake cookies, wrap presents, eat pizza, do laundry and compare notes about who had the harder test first. Observing the students and thinking back to my own college days, I'm convinced that procrastination is as much a part of college life as music and cold cereal.
Regardless of how they got there, they got there. And now they're done. No extensions. No do-overs. No extra-credit. As far as I'm concerned, that's the beauty of finals. Christmas break for college students truly is a break. A semester of stresses is behind them and a new semester is two whole holidays away.
While our lives are no longer divided into semesters, I hope you allow yourself a break this holiday season. A week, a day, a moment - whatever you can take - to celebrate the season and renew your spirit.
Merry Christmas,
Lisa Liljegren

NEW RESIDENCE HALL We are excited to unveil the plans for a new, 274-bed residence hall which will be located in the courtyard of Coburg and Augsburg. The five-story building will be accessible through the opening of the courtyard between the NE corner of Coburg and Augsburg. It will be connected through the tunnel system underground and will have its own laundry room, six underground classrooms, two lecture halls holding up to sixty students and public restrooms. Most of the students' rooms will have three bedrooms each housing two people. We should hopefully break ground in January and it will take 10-12 months to complete. |
