Alumni Newsletter - Oct. 2012 |
Greetings!
I don't know about you, but whenever I think back to my college days my best memories are of events and experiences that took place in the Fall. Perhaps I was simply most present during that time of year because everything and many people were new. I'm sure the weather had a lot to do with it. Like a flash mob, on beautiful days we all gathered in the courtyard to study, chat, or hackey (it was the 90s!) as if our financial aid depended upon it. Of course, the event of the season, Homecoming Week, from crazy dances to astonishing hypnotisms, created enough memorable experiences to last a lifetime.
Fall is in full-swing here on campus, and just like in my memories, it is a spectacular time to be a college student. Homecoming Week entertained students for seven days straight with dances, parades, games and activities. On beautiful days the students gravitate to the Chapel Courtyard to study, hangout and toss a Frisbee. And opportunities for students to join organizations, attend events and serve the community are so abundant that it's impossible to not get swept up in the action.
Stop by campus and witness for yourself all the energy and activity that make this time of year so special. Don't forget to pack your Frisbee!
Sincerely,
Lisa Liljegren

Two weeks in and we're already asking ourselves, "How on earth did we survive without this place?" Complete with shuffle board, ping-pong, a food court, projection TV and plenty of gathering spaces, the new Student Center has already become the vital artery to student life. Might I suggest a lunchtime visit? That would provide you with the best opportunity to interact with students while you enjoy the good food options.
In addition to the Center, the remodeled Albrecht Hall also features a new ballroom and a spacious and well-appointed bookstore.
