NEW PRESIDENT/CEO ANNOUNCED FOR HUTTO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Joey Grisham named to top position for local economic development organization
Grisham, Joey
The Hutto Economic Development Corporation has named its new President/CEO. Joey Grisham will be assuming his new duties on Tuesday, May 28.

The position became vacant when former Executive Director Scott Martinez left at the beginning of the year to pursue another opportunity in Louisiana.

After a nationwide search that was conducted by consulting firm Strategic Government Resources, Grisham was the lone finalist in a pool of 37 applicants that spanned 10 different states.

Grisham has 12 years of community and economic development experience. His most recent position was as Director of Lake Granbury Area EDC in Granbury, Texas. Prior to that, he held similar roles in Keller, Texas; Tupelo, Mississippi; and Marion County, Mississippi.

As an independent consultant, Grisham has worked on economic development consulting projects in Alabama, Arizona, Indiana, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and several cities in Texas. He also successfully marketed several communities for new business recruitment, retention, and expansion of existing businesses. Grisham has also served as a retail/economic development consultant for a national consulting firm.

According to Hutto EDC Board Chairman Mario Perez, Grisham was the best fit for the position because he had extensive experience in retail, industry, and manufacturing. "Hutto is the fastest growing city in the state of Texas, and Grisham brings a wealth of information and resources to maintain and continue the city's growth," said Perez. "Grisham's personality is a great fit for the community. The Mayor and City Manager are thrilled to have him aboard."

"I am honored to accept this position and appreciate the EDC for providing me with this wonderful opportunity-my family and I are elated to become a part of the Hutto family and Hippo nation," stated Grisham. "My first objective is to meet all community stakeholders and local businesses, and fully understand what we have to offer. Scott Martinez along with the Board and EDC staff have built a strong professional organization and my job is to help continue that momentum. What attracted me to Hutto was community leadership, family environment, and proximity to one of the hottest markets in America."

The husband and father of two obtained a M.S. in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi, a M.A. in political science from the University of Memphis, and a B.A. from the University of Mississippi.

Grisham is also a member of Texas Economic Development Council, Southern Economic Development Council, International Economic Development Council, and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
