EAST WILLIAMSON COUNTY HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Bartlett-Cocke General Contractors continue to keep construction on track
|
|
Construction on the East Williamson County Higher Education Center-Hutto is on schedule with an expected opening date of Fall 2013. Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is keeping construction on pace and ahead of schedule. Meetings with college officials are taking place every two weeks and progress on the development can be seen from both SH130 and County Road 108.

Hutto Police Chief to Address the Hutto Community
|
The Hutto community will hear from the City of Hutto Police Department Chief Peter Scheets at the March 14, 2013 Power Breakfast. Chief Scheets will be addressing the changes that have occurred over the last year with the Police Department and community relations.This event will be held at 7:30am at the Holiday Inn Express in Hutto. Like all Hutto EDC Power Breakfasts, this is a free event open to the public and requires no RSVP to attend.

RECENT REPORT INDICATES NOTABLE INCREASE IN GROWTH

Residential growth sees marked increase during 2012
|
 According to recently compiled reports, a total count of 222 new residential permits were issued within the City of Hutto for 2012. This compares to a total of 189 permits issued in 2011. There were several subdivision plats submitted to the City of Hutto Development Services Department and approved by the City Council that totaled 350 new single-family lots within the city limits and 82 new single-family lots within Hutto's extra territorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The majority of the new lots are within vested subdivisions that are continuing to expand with additional new phases.
Commercial growth is also on the rise. Several commercial projects began construction began in 2012 as well. Still under construction and in progress are new buildings for Hutto Family Eye Care and Tiger Rock Martial Arts. Also under construction is the East Williamson County Higher Education Center. The 22,000 square foot Hutto Family YMCA will break ground in March 2013, adding to the proposed second phase of the Town West Commons development. Other commercial projects are also underway including convenience stores/gas stations along FM 1660 North and also along FM 685 at Great Western Drive.

HUTTO FAMILY YMCA SCHEDULES GROUNDBREAKING
|
Mark your calendars for the groundbreaking of the Hutto Family YMCA, scheduled for Friday March 8, 2013 at 10am. This much anticipated event will mark the beginning of a new addition to recreational options in the Hutto community. This 22,000 square foot facility will be located on NewQuest property, currently home to Lowe's Home Improvement, Walgreens, and several other businesses. With an anticipated opening of early 2014, this facility is expected to serve more than 7,000 people annually.

SGR closes application window Hutto EDC Executive Director Search
|
On December 11, 2012, the Hutto Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors selected Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to help guide the process of finding a new Executive Director for the Hutto Economic Development Corporation. SGR accepted online applications through February 15, 2013. From the pool of applicants with SGR's guidance, the Hutto EDC Board of Directors has selected Quarter-FInalists to continue in the interview process. A final decision is expected mid-April.
