barolo NEW RELEASE!
2010
Pecchenino
Barolo
San Giuseppe
Piedmont

"Cherry, anise, menthol and tar aromas and flavors signal this unadorned Barolo. Fresh and well-balanced, this needs time to absorb the dusty tannins. Should come around soon. Best from 2017 through 2029. 466 cases made. –BS" (WS)
Wine Spectator: 92 pts.

"Orlando Pecchenino's 2010 Barolo San Giuseppe excels in terms of elegance and harmony, especially given the balanced nature of the 2010 vintage. There's an ethereal and feminine quality on display that emerges immediately thanks to aromas of wet asphalt, tar, pressed cherry, forest berry and tobacco ash. Although it is celebrated for its Barbera, Pecchenino shows a deft hand with the finicky Nebbiolo grape. The results here speak in clear tones with bright berry flavors and a long, satisfying finish. In addition to oak barrel, Barolo San Giuseppe refines in cement vats as well. Drink: 2016-2025." (WA)
Wine Advocate: 92 pts.
"Savory herbs, dried rose petals, tobacco, wild flowers, mint, spices and dark red stone fruits lift from the glass as Pecchenino 2010 Barolo San Giuseppe shows off its beguiling personality. Deceptively medium in body, this classically austere, tannic Barolo possesses striking nuance, chiseled fruit and exceptional overall balance. The 2010 spent two years in cask followed by another year in cement. Readers should plan on forgetting the 2010 for at least a few years." (AG)
Antonio Galloni: 95 pts.
"Enchanting strawberry and raspberry aromas follow through to a full body, with super integrated tannins and a bright, precise and fruity finish. Superb focus. Better in 2017." (JS)
James Suckling: 95 pts.

Barolo
Le Coste
Piedmont

"Cherry, floral, tar, iron and mineral aromas and flavors mark this red, which is savory and fruity in equal measure. The sweet fruit is balanced by serious tannins, and the aftertaste reveals medicinal herb, tar, sweet spice and underbrush notes. Best from 2018 through 2032. 466 cases made. –BS" (WS)
Wine Spectator: 94 pts.
"The 2010 Barolo Le Coste is exceptionally elegant and graceful with an especially heightened focused on the smallest and most subtle nuances naturally present in Nebbiolo. Etched notes of smoke, dried berry, licorice, asphalt and pipe tobacco add complexity and intensity to the bouquet. Revisiting this wine in eight to ten years will yield exciting results. Drink: 2017-2030." (WA)
Wine Advocate: 93 pts.
"Another dazzling wine, the 2010 Barolo Le Coste races across the palate with bright red cherry, plum, spice, hard candy, mint and rose petal overtones. The Le Coste is a bit more primary, perfumed, sweet and pliant - especially through the mid-palate - than the San Giuseppe. Sinewy, powerful and tannic, the Le Coste is what traditionally made Barolo is all about. The 2010 spent three years in cask." (AG)
Antonio Galloni: 96 pts.
"A balanced, pretty wine with fresh-fruit and cedar undertones. Medium to full body with fine tannins and a medium finish. Drink or hold." (JS)

Barolo
Ciabot Mentin
Piedmont

"Features a combination of cherry, spice, eucalyptus and woodsy notes, with buoyant fruit backed by beefy tannins. This changes constantly in the glass, boding well for the future. A dense, balanced red. Best from 2018 through 2032. 1,833 cases made." (WS)
Wine Spectator: 93 pts.
"The 2010 Barolo Ciabot Mentin opens to a deep, dark color and tarry aromas of dark fruit and liquid smoke. The use of oak is bold but contained, adding extra layering to the supple finish. The power and elegance of the vintage comes though at this early stage although the wine clearly needs more time to evolve. Drink: 2017-2030." (WA)
Wine Advocate: 94 pts.
"Good full red. Liqueur-like plum and black cherry on the nose. Then fine-grained and classy but tightly wound, showing utterly primary flavors of cherry, red berries and menthol. There's no way into this extremely backward wine today. But it has the racy acidity and excellent clarity for a spectacular evolution in bottle. " (IWC)
International Wine Cellar: 95+ pts.
"This is a very pretty 2010 Barolo with very fine tannins, fresh fruit and hints of minerals. Medium to full body, delicately fruity finish. Give it until 2016 to soften the tannins a little." (JS)
