WOW!!
WHAT A STORY, WHAT A VALUE!!
2011
Novy Family Wines
Four Mile Creek
Rhone Style Blend
North Coast
"Novy's 2011 Four Mile Creek Red Table Wine is one of the very best wines readers will find in its price range. Juicy dark cherries, flowers, spices and menthol all jump from the glass. Juicy and expressive, yet also very nicely structured, the 2011 is firing on all cylinders today. What a gorgeous wine! Anticipated maturity: 2013-2015. Proprietors Adam and Dianna Lee can be counted on for delicious, immediate wines that deliver immense pleasure. The Lees' Novy range is typically a great source for values. This year, I was especially taken with the Four Mile Creek, one of the very best wines anywhere in the world in its price range." (WA)

"(made from a blend of 60% syrah, 30% zinfandel and 10% grenache): Inky ruby. Dark fruits and olive on the nose, with a peppery nuance adding vibrancy. A touch warm on the palate but provides good palate coverage and plump, straightforward syrah character, with jammy berry and bitter cherry flavors. The smoky finish leaves a note of cracked pepper behind." (IWC)

IT'S BACK! After a long absence, our bargain priced Four Mile Creek Red Table Wine has returned and with a new look! For those of you who may never have tried our Four Mile Creek Red Table Wine, this is our version of a Cotes du Rhone, with a distinctly California twist. Much like many Southern Rhone reds, this wine is a blend of Syrah and Grenache, but we've added in a generous dose of Zinfandel and a spot of Nebbiolo. In 2011, a very cool vintage, we decided to declassify a great deal of really good Syrah into this wine, including all of the Page Nord, Christensen, Parsons', and Simpson wines along with all of the Simpson Grenache and a good bit of Elsbree Vineyard Zinfandel. Declassifying all of this fruit is a rather expensive decision, but it was the right call in this cool vintage, and has led to a truly exceptional Four Mile Creek wine. The 2011 Novy Four Mile Creed Red Table Wine is a rich, deeply colored red wine. The nose shows plenty of dark, plush fruit, along with a distinct spicy note, and a touch of floral aromatics. On the palate, the wine is a mouth filling mix of plums and blackberries, as well as hints of dried herbs. There's also a peppery element to the wine, coming from both the Zinfandel and the Christensen Syrah. The finish is long with good levels of acidity and smooth tannins.
