fevre NEW ARRIVAL!!
2011
Domaine William Fevre
Chablis
Les Clos
Grand Cru

"Planted by William Fevre's father in 1947, 1948, 1952. Powerful yet reserved, and also very structured, displaying a mix of flowers, stone fruits, herbs and mineral, very complex, with an expansive, lengthy finish. (92-95 points, non-blind)" (WS)
Wine Spectator: 92-95 pts.
"Fevre's 2011 Chablis Les Clos is seriously intense. The Clos is another wine that saturates the palate with endless layers of aromas and flavors in a style that is all about persistence and length. The 2011 will require time, perhaps quite a bit of it, but it is striking for its purity and delineation. This is a very strong showing from Fevre and winemaker Didier Seguir. Anticipated maturity: 2014+." (WA)
Wine Advocate: 93-95 pts.
"Bright yellow-green. Calcaire-driven aromas of citrus peel, mint and powdered stone, plus a whiff of coconut. Densely packed and seamless but youthfully closed; in a powerful, distinctly dry style, showing tightly coiled energy. Expands dramatically in the mouth and on the very long aftertate, coating the palate with flavors of citrus fruit, mint, dusty stone and almost metallic minerality. A real vin de garde for the vintage. Seguier noted that he used zero new oak for the 2011s; William Fevre gets its used barrels from Bouchard, which is under the same ownership." (IWC)
International Wine Cellar: 92-95 pts.
"This was quite closed and somewhat difficult to read but aggressive swirling grudgingly liberated ripe aromas of sea breeze, pear, lemon rind, oyster shell and mineral reduction plus an abundance of typical floral scents. The large-scaled flavors are overtly powerful and impressively concentrated as there is plenty of palate staining dry extract that also buffers the very firm acidity that supports and shapes the gorgeously precise finish. This explosively long effort possesses exquisite balance and the tightly wound flavors are going to need at least a decade to completely bloom. A knock out." (BH)
Burghound: 93-96 pts.

Domaine William Fevre
Chablis
Bougros Cote Bouguerots
Grand Cru

"This is the steep portion of Bougros from the flatter portion to the road. Ripe apple and lemon notes, yet very clean, pure and also dry on the finish. More delicate than the Valmur, more about finesse. (90-93 points, non-blind)" (WS)
Wine Spectator: 90-93 pts.
"Veins of cool, vibrant minerality frame layers of expressive fruit in the 2011 Chablis Bougros Cote Bouguerots. This large-scaled, imposing wine is holding back much of its energy today. There is an implosive quality that is impossible to miss. The combination of fruit and intense minerality is highly appealing, even at this early stage. Anticipated maturity: 2013+." (WA)
Wine Advocate: 92-94 pts.
"Pale, bright, green-tinged yellow. Aromas of ripe peach, silex, crushed rock and lichee. Ripe, chewy and dry, with penetrating minerality giving the mid-palate a light touch but keeping it quite tightly wound. Comes off as much less silky and more taut than the Valmur. Most impressive today on the firmly structured, classically dry, very long finish, which leaves the palate saturated with dusty, saline minerality. Still, winemaker Seguier says that this wine, from a south-facing site, is "easier" today then the estate's Clos." (IWC)
International Wine Cellar: 92-94 pts.
"This is also completely classic and even more aromatically complex with a plethora of sea shore nuances to the cool green fruit scents. On the palate this is dense, powerful and quite serious with brooding flavors that brim with dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine on the intensely mineral-driven and explosively long finish. This is the biggest wine in the range yet impeccably well-balanced and if not exactly refined, then certainly not rustic either. A 'wow' wine." (BH)

Les Preuses
Grand Cru

"From two parcels, one facing east that delivers freshness; one southwest with deeper soil, more clay, richness. Rich, fleshy, this is a mouthful of ripe apple, peach and mineral. It's refined, elegant, complex, harmonious and long. (92-95 points, non-blind)" (WS)
Wine Spectator: 92-95 pts.
"The 2011 Chablis Les Preuses covers every corner of the palate with beautifully delineated, vibrant fruit. Despite its obvious richness, the 2011 isn't overt, but rather a wine that impresses for its overall balance and harmony. The Preuses was racked the week prior to my visit. I won't be surprised if it comes in at the high end of my scoring range once it is bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. " (WA)
Wine Advocate: 92-94 pts.
"Pale yellow-green. Lemon, lime, grapefruit pith, white flowers and spices on the nose. Densely packed but quite elegant and subtle, with a seamless texture and excellent acidity giving the mid-palate an impression of energy and lift. Really saturates the entire mouth without leaving any sense of weight. Finishes smooth and vivacious, with superb lift and aromatic persistence. A great vintage for this wine. Seguier believes that this was the best terroir in 2011." (IWC)
International Wine Cellar: 93-96 pts.
"If the Cote de Bouguerots is the biggest wine in 2011 then the Preuses is arguably the most aromatically complex with a broad ranging nose of perfumed and ripe scents of oyster shell, sea water, citrus and white flowers. The silky and refined flavors are wonderfully seductive with an intense minerality to the austere, bone dry and balanced finish that exudes hints of saline and iodine. In sum, this is flat out stunning." (BH)
